Yesterday, Mortal Kombat 11 fans got a look at Nightwolf in action by way of a new gameplay trailer. While teasers for this forthcoming Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character have been shared previously, this new MK11 Nightwolf gameplay trailer is the first time that players have seen him in combat, and there is quite a bit to be learned from this footage.
To begin, Nightwolf gets things started with a bang in the new Mortal Kombat 11 trailer, going straight into a string that appears to begin with an overhead attack. Interestingly, the weapon that Nightwolf uses to administer this string seems to be a gunstock war club, an implement used by the Native Americans in the 18th and 19th centuries.
From there, fans get a glimpse at Nightwolf's signature green bow and arrow. It seems that in MK11 the fighter can hold his fire in order to shoot multiple arrows in quick succession. This may mean that players can move with the bow drawn or cancel the move altogether, as Mortal Kombat 11's Erron Black can do with his firearm pulled.
Next up, the MK11 trailer showcases the first of Nightwolf's summons: a bear. It appears that this move will act as a defensive option for the fighter, as it seems to grant him armor and the ability to deflect Kabal's projectiles in Mortal Kombat 11.
The trailer then depicts one of Nightwolf's Krushing Blows, which is administered from a throw. This is followed by a clip that pits Nightwolf against Kotal Khan, where it is revealed that the new MK11 DLC fighter may have something like a command roll for evasion.
These blunt physical abilities are followed up by a showcase of some of the more elegant tools in Nightwolf's arsenal. These tools include what appears to be an aimable lightning projectile, the ability to summon a wolf, and yet another projectile in the form of a summonable bird.
Fans then get a look at Nightwolf's patented shoulder charge, which can apparently setup a Krushing Blow in Mortal Kombat 11. After this display, the trailer demonstrate one more projectile: a blue bow and arrow that strikes the opponent with lighting bolts.
To close things off, the MK11 Nightwolf trailer shows off how the fighter's Reflect will function in this new game. Notably, enhancing Reflect appears to setup a punish, which could be quite a powerful tool indeed.
Additionally, the Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf gameplay trailer includes one of the DLC fighter's intros, his vicious MK11 Fatal Blow, and one of his fatalities. These elements have not been touched on in this breakdown, as they do not directly impact gameplay, but some fans will certainly enjoy getting look at them.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version in development.
