With the base Mortal Kombat 11 characters solidly established via a leak of the character select screen from earlier this week, some players may now have turned their attention to what guest fighters will be introduced through post-launch DLC. While only one such DLC character has been officially announced in Shang Tsung, a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC leak from yesterday seems to have revealed eight more, one of which may be of particular interest.
Specifically, this new Mortal Kombat 11 leak references "Ash," which seems very likely to be Ash J. Williams, the protagonist from the highly revered The Evil Dead franchise. For some fans, Ash, and Bruce Campbell's portrayal of him, is a true standout in the horror genre, and his inclusion in NetherRealm Studios' upcoming fighting game would certainly be embraced by many.
In fact, fans have been clamoring for Ash as a guest character in Mortal Kombat 11 for months. This desire has materialized not only as numerous posts in community forums like the Mortal Kombat subreddit calling for his inclusion, but there have also been several petitions initiated as well.
As such, if the new leak is to be believed, then it seems that NetherRealm has heard the cries of its fans and have answered accordingly. Of course, many will be skeptical of this new leak, and rightfully so. However, this one does seem to have legs.
First shared by Reddit user LeoNatan, the leak is said to come from the 1.0 game files found in the Mortal Kombat 11 Switch release. This Redditor has further established the validity of the claim by providing a guide that allows players to access the files in question on their own consoles. One user has seemingly followed this guide, and this user has posted images that appear to verify LeoNatan's assertion.
The other fighters that are featured in this new leak include the Joker, the Terminator, and Spawn alongside characters from Mortal Kombat history such as Sindel and Fujin. While fans are certain to have varying opinions on this lineup, many will certainly feel that Ash has a good home among the other Mortal Kombat 11 characters. That said, it is important to remember that this reference to Ash has only been seen in the game's files, and his release is thus not guaranteed.
Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled to release on April 23, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
