A Mortal Kombat 1 player has found an Easter egg in which Homelander says one of his lines from The Boys. The Mortal Kombat 1 cast welcomed Homelander, the iconic leader of The Seven, and one of the most anticipated additions to the NetherRealm Studios title.
Homelander is the latest character added via Mortal Kombat 1's Kombat Pack. It all started in November last year with Mortal Kombat 1 adding Omni-Man from Invincible. Quan Chi arrived in December, and DC's Peacemaker was Mortal Kombat 1's first addition in 2024. Ermac, who had a role as a minor antagonist in Mortal Kombat 1's story mode, returned as a playable character in April, with Homelander finally being added in June. Players' expectations for Homelander's debut in Mortal Kombat 1 were high, and it didn't take them long to notice something interesting about one of the Kombatant's abilities.
Twitter user DIZZ_NH is one of the Mortal Kombat 1 players who discovered a neat Easter egg in which Homelander says one of his lines in The Boys when he fights Kenshi. The player shared a video showing how to trigger the interaction, which happens when Homelander uses the Brutality "What Happens If?" He then hits both sides of Kenshi's head and then says disdainfully "Another useless ****ing blind guy," a reference to The Boys Season 2. The scene in question happens when Homelander and Blindspot meet, and the character slaps both sides of the young hero's head just as he does in his Brutality.
Mortal Kombat 1 Adds Homelander, Penultimate Kombat Pack Character
In addition to the discovery of this nod to The Boys, Homelander's debut in Mortal Kombat 1 is being marked by players quickly discovering techniques to use. One of these is a relatively easy infinite, as demonstrated by Twitter user TGC|Stryker. If the Mortal Kombat 1 player hits four kicks while Homelander is flying, it's possible to repeat the move over and over. The only way to avoid the sequence of kicks is if the opponent blocks Homelander's first kick.
Homelander has been available in Mortal Kombat 1 for less than 24 hours, so the expectation is that players will find more interesting Easter eggs in the coming weeks. And although Homelander isn't voiced by Anthony Starr, it won't be surprising to see the character enter the ranks of the most popular fighters in Mortal Kombat 1. Over time, the tendency is for the Mortal Kombat 1 community to discover more of the character's potential, and what place Homelander will have in the game's meta.
