NetherRealm Studios has revealed the official gameplay trailer of two of its upcoming characters for Mortal Kombat 1: Tremor, and Omni-Man from Robert Kirkman's Invincible comic book series. Both characters are part of Mortal Kombat 1's Kombat Pack 1, which players can buy for $39.99.
Mortal Kombat 1's first Kombat Pack comes with an array of interesting characters to add to the game's roster. Fans may remember that many of the characters in the Kombat Pack came from comic books. This trend is evidenced by the presence of Homelander from The Boys comic book series, Peacemaker from DC Comics, and Invincible's Omni-Man, who will be the first from the Kombat Pack to be released.
To give players a better look at Omni-Man's move set and abilities, NetherRealm released a gameplay trailer featuring the Viltrumite in action. The trailer showed that Omni-Man is coming to Mortal Kombat 1's roster on November 9 and that his move set is quite similar to Injustice's Superman. His super speed allows him to position himself behind his opponent, while his superhuman strength and flying abilities allow him to force his enemy into submission. He also has an enhanced move that allows him to seemingly dodge four attacks in place.
When is Omni-Man Coming to Mortal Kombat 1?
- The Mortal Kombat 1 Omni-Man release date is November 9
The trailer also featured Omni-Man's outro and the full version of his train fatality, with both being references to scenes shown in Amazon's Invincible animated series. The outro featured in the trailer shows him holding up a large boulder like the one in Episode 2 of the animated series' first season, "Here Goes Nothing." Meanwhile, Omni-Man's train fatality is a reference to the animated series' iconic train scene. Only, this time, Omni-Man's opponent shares the same gory fate of the train's passengers.
The trailer also featured Tremor, who now takes a Kameo role in Mortal Kombat 1 after becoming playable in Mortal Kombat X. While the earth elemental ninja's appearance in the trailer is sporadic, players can spot him reflecting projectiles to opponents in it and rolling a huge boulder to crush his opponent with for his Fatality. Regardless, Mortal Kombat and Invincible fans will agree that Omni-Man's gameplay trailer provides something to look forward to.
