Ed Boon posted a short teaser trailer for the new version of Sektor, which also confirms her mother as a surprising character players meet in Mortal Kombat 1's main campaign. Following the events of the previous game's expansion, Mortal Kombat 1 is able to reimagine much of the longstanding franchise and its characters. The changes to many fan favorite characters, including making Mileena the benevolent but tormented crown princess of Outworld, have been received well by many longtime fans.
While the first Kombat Pack of characters has finally concluded, NetherRealm reaffirmed its commitment to Mortal Kombat 1 by announcing even more DLC with a second character pack and a new expansion called Khaos Reigns. Similar to Mortal Kombat 11's Aftermath DLC, Khaos Reigns continues the game's campaign narrative, highlighting Titan Havok's plans for Lui Kang's world, while also reintroducing many fan favorite characters like Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor. As expected, NetherRealm has continued to alter the backgrounds for many of these beloved characters, with both Cyrax and Sektor getting the biggest change of all.
While the cybernetic Lin Kuei warriors may play similarly to their past counterparts using exploding bombs, netting, rockets, and teleport punches, Cyrax and Sektor are now female warriors with helmets that can be pulled back, so their faces can be seen. The changes to Cyrax and Sektor in Mortal Kombat 1 were met with controversy, especially from those who were hoping to see a more heavy cybernetic look that Mortal Kombat 11 teased in its story. However, the new armored designs aren't the only major changes, as Mortal Kombat 1's website provided a bit of background for each character, hinting that Sektor's parents were major members of the Lin Kuei, leaving fans to speculate on who that might be.
Mortal Kombat 1 Confirms Sektor's Mother
Following the Cyrax trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, NetherRealm appears to be readying a Sektor focused one next. Mortal Kombat co-founder Ed Boon took to Twitter to give fans a short taste of what to expect, also confirming the surprising detail that Madame Bo is Sektor's mother. MK1 players will likely remember Madame Bo as the owner of the Fengjian Teahouse, though she's also a former assassin and warrior within the clan before retiring. While Sektor's Master Armorer father is still unidentified, she was eventually deemed worthy enough to take his place.
Alongside new fighters and story content, Ed Boon has continued teasing Mortal Kombat 1 fans with the addition of new Kameo fighters. While unconfirmed currently, Boon posted a poll on his Twitter account, asking fans which potential Kameo fighters they'd like to see, including Invincible, Chucky, Blanche from Mortal Kombat X, and Kidd Thunder. Invincible and Chucky led the way after over 66,000 votes came in, highlighting the popularity of guest characters within the game.
