The DLC roster of Mortal Kombat 1 is getting Animalities. The Khaos Reigns expansion will not only introduce six new Kombatants to Mortal Kombat 1, including Scream's Ghostface, but it will also add Animality finishers and new story chapters to the game. The DLC is set to release on September 24, and players are excited to spice up their Mortal Kombat experience with all the new additions, including the ones that have existed as series deep-cuts for some time.
Reaching back to 1992, the history of Mortal Kombat now spans decades. Within that history, the series has found plenty of unique ways to innovate its mechanics while trying not to stray too far from the source material. In Mortal Kombat 3, Animalities were introduced, with characters morphing into various animals to carry out more extravagant finishers. Although some found the mechanic too silly, plenty of fans love that wacky side of the series and have wanted to see Animalities come back in Mortal Kombat 1.
In the Khaos Reigns episode of Kombat Kast, NetherRealm confirmed that every character, including the DLC roster of Mortal Kombat 1, is getting Animalities. This may be exciting news for gamers who are fond of this feature. Considering the variety of characters that have been added and will come to Mortal Kombat 1 as DLC, it will be interesting for fans to see what Animalities each new character gets for the Khaos Reigns expansion.
NetherRealm Confirms Kombatant Animalities
Described by NetherRealm as the spirit animal morph of a Kombatant, Animalities embody the personality of a character in some way. It seems many of them are being kept secret for now, but some characters have had their Animalities revealed already. In addition to Mileena's various existing Fatalities, her Animality will take the form of a vicious Orchid Mantis with razor-like arms and sharp teeth. Mileena's Animality expands on the fact that her teeth are integral to her character, and are one of, if not, her most iconic features.
The fact that guest characters will get Animalities opens the floor for NetherRealm to fully put its own spin on these Kombatants. In the podcast episode, it was mentioned that Peacemaker has a particularly great Animality, but they can't say what it is yet. Other interesting characters to get Animalities will be Homelander and Ghostface. Ghostface already has a Fatality that's got players hyped, so NetherRealm has a chance to impress gamers further.
