It appears that when Sony releases the new Morbius movie next month, those who go to see it can expect what is a pretty compact run time compared to other films these days. If the runtime on a recent listing for a movie theater chain is to be believed, the Sony Pictures produced movie is going to clock in at just under the two-hour mark.

The oft-delayed Morbius film is finally coming in January after making fans wait for two other release dates that never came. The movie will feature Academy Award-winning Jared Leto as the "living vampire" who was once just a doctor that was desperate to cure a rare disease he had. In wanting to beat the illness, he made himself the lab rat for a special treatment that did work but had some rather severe side effects. Assuming the newly surfaced listing is correct, fans will be able to see this story unfold in a shorter period of time than say, Spider-Man: No Way Home which kept viewers in their seats for about three hours when adding in previews and ads before the movie, as well as the post-credits scenes.

The listing on the Cinemark Theaters website says that Morbius has a run time of one hour and 48 minutes. That is about 45 minutes less than No Way Home. In fact, it's at least a half-hour shorter than any of the MCU Spider-Man films which were all over the two-hour mark.

While Morbius's runtime is quite a bit shorter than the MCU films, it's in line with Sony-produced super-hero films. It's actually a bit longer than the last Sony picture that involved a Marvel character as Venom: Let There Be Carnage had an official runtime of just an hour and 37 minutes.

Of course, Morbius is more of an origin story than Let There Be Carnage was, as audiences had already been introduced to the Venom character before. Marvel fans also know a bit more about Venom than they do the living vampire since the former character has appeared on screen before in the first Spider-Man trilogy.

While Cinemark is among the first to peg an actual run time for the film, it's worth noting that the other movies listed on the site appear to have accurate lengths. This particular notation just happens to come before Morbius is officially in theaters and before Sony has confirmed the number.

Morbius will be released in theaters on January 28, 2022.
