Crafting better gear lies at the heart of Monster Hunter World. Beyond the epic boss fights is a more relaxed metagame that's all about mixing and matching different pieces of gear together. Of course, crafting isn't free, and materials like Research Commission Tickets aren't as readily available as some others.

Players can learn how to deliver 20 Gourmet Shroomcaps and complete Monster Hunter World's Fungal Flexin' in the Ancient Forest quest here.

Research Commission Tickets are special crafting materials that aren't as obvious to find as monster parts or the many metal ores in Monster Hunter World. Still, they're needed for a handful of gear, including a special armor set, some charms, and an entire weapon line made from one specific Elder Dragon. Here's where to get some of these tickets.

The best way to get Research Commission Tickets is to complete optional High Rank quests. There is a finite number of quests to finish, but these should be enough to fill in for your immediate crafting needs.

The other way to farm for Research Commission Tickets is to farm the White Winds of the New World and The Sapphire Star's Guidance quests, which are both 9-star missions that are fairly difficult. White Winds tasks players with hunting four monsters in the Special Arena (Legiana, Odogaron, Rathalos, and Diablos), while Sapphire Star's Guidance sends players to Elder's Recess to hunt Tempered Elder Dragons (Kushala Daora, Teostra, and Nergigante).

Farming these two quests is recommended only as a last resort since their drop rate for Research Commission Tickets is very low (~1%). However, if you're all out of HR quests to do, then these two are your only options.

The White Winds of the New World quest only appears once you've completed all other optional HR quests and captured every monster at least once. If it doesn't appear in the 9-star HR quest menu, then make sure to satisfy these conditions first.

Research Commission Tickets are required to craft the Commission Armor Sets (the armor worn by the Commander and the Handler) as well as all of Lunastra's Rarity 8 weapons. Tickets are also required to craft the following charms:

  • Bulwark Charm
  • Dispersal Charm
  • Handicraft Charm III
  • Gale Charm
  • Mushroom Charm II
  • Penetration Charm
  • Wyrmslayer Charm

The Handicraft Charm is especially helpful for fast-attacking weapons like Dual Blades and the Insect Glaive. It increases the sharpness gauge of weapons as long as its base sharpness level isn't already maxed out. Penetration Charm is great for Bow and Bowgun users who prefer Pierce Ammo.
