Time-honed Wylk Gem is a Rarity 6 Special Item used to trade for rare goods with Yabran, one of the Item Traders in the Oilwell Basin in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Obtaining it is anything but simple, however, as it can only be collected during certain special events that happen in-game. Missing the timing means players may have to wait a long time for it to come back. Luckily, there are ways to make this search quick and easy. Here’s how.

Where to Find a Time-honed Wylk Gem

Time-honed Wylk Gem can be obtained from Wylky Crystal Outcrops in the Ruins of Wyveria, Oilwell Basin, and Windward Plains. Wylky Crystal Outcrops only appear during an environmental event called Wylky Crystal Outcrop Emergence that can sometimes trigger during the season of Inclemency for each respective region. So, in Ruins of Wyveria, it would be Wyvern’s Wakening; in Windward Plains, Sandtide; and in Oilwell Basin, Firespring.

Emergence events, including the Wylky Crystal Outcrop Emergence, only start spawning after Tempered Monsters are unlocked at HR 20. This means players cannot obtain a Time-honed Wylk Gem beforehand.

How to Check For Wylky Crystal Outcrop Emergence Event

Players can check if an Emergence is currently happening or if it will occur within the next hour by checking the third page of the Environment Overview on the maps screen. The timer at the top reflects how much real-world time needs to pass before the upcoming events occur and how long they will last. Each Wylky Crystal Outcrop will net you a single Time-honed Wylk Gem (this cannot be increased by the Geologist skill).

Passing time through the Rest mechanic resets all events and spawn points. An upcoming event’s arrival cannot be sped up, but the entire event pool can be reset using this mechanic.

The Time-honed Wylk Gem is mainly used to buy items from the Item Trader, Yabran, found in Azuz the Everforge in the Oilwell Basin.

After Yabran is unlocked as a vendor, players can talk to Nata in any base camp to access his inventory without having to visit him directly.

Time-honed Wylk Gem is a Rarity 6 special item and counts towards one of the rarest achievements in MH Wilds: Explorer of the Eastlands.
