Blangonga, Congalala, Jin Dahaad, Lala Barina, and Nerscylla are the weakest to Fire-based weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. The Doshaguma, Gore Magala, Guardian Doshaguma, Gypceros, and Hirabami monsters are also weak to Fire-based attacks, but the other examples are mainly weak to Fire attacks so let’s get down to how players can face these monsters.

5 Blangonga

A Late Icy Addition

Blangonga is a late addition to the game as it will appear near the end of the story. It has the power of Ice flowing through it, so naturally it will be weak to Fire along with Thunder. That said, it’s more averse to Fire but just barely. Players should aim their attacks at its head or torso to do the most damage with their Fire-infused weapon.

Even though this is a later addition in the higher-ranked area of Monster Hunter Wilds, players shouldn’t have too much trouble with Blangonga no matter what element they choose except Dragon or Ice attacks because it can negate them almost completely. Usually, Blangonga is accompanied by smaller versions of itself. That’s when these fights can become hard as these pint-sized Blangonga get in the way more so than do any harm to the player. As easy as it is to take down, it also has some good gear attached to it for farming purposes.

4 Congalala

Congalala is a returning monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, first hailing from the game that was never released outside of Japan, Monster Hunter 2. It’s the opposite of Blangonga, who also first appeared in Monster Hunter 2, but Congalala has no element all its own, but this ape is filled to the brim with active status effects. It can poison, paralyze, or make players stinky.

It technically has a weakness to both Fire and Ice elements but there is only one place on its body where players can take advantage of this weakness. With Fire weapons, they can target the head for a little extra damage. When they first encounter Congalala, players should be able to craft a weapon using Quematrice parts in Monster Hunter Wilds to get a Fire-based weapon. If players feel like they need the extra oomph, they should carve that bird up. Otherwise, if players avoid its status-infused breath attacks, Congalala should not be a problem Fire weapons or no.

3 Jin Dahaad

Weakness: Fire

Jin Dahaad is one of, if not THE biggest monster in the game besides being one of the hardest monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s so big that players have to give chase to it in an epic fight alongside Support Hunters in the story. It’s quite obvious this giant ice dragon will be weak to Fire and only Fire weapons as it resides in the Iceshard Cliffs. The first time players encounter it will not be that hard but the second version in the higher tier of the world will make players cry in frustration.

Just try and target the head with Fire attacks and it should go well, that is if players manage to avoid its charges or ice breaths. Every area the second version runs to will also have hanging supports ready to collapse. When the Jin Dahaad is below one of these traps, players can spring them using their grappling hooks. If players manage to hit it with every environmental setup, then the fight won’t last that long compared to if they miss. It’s a marathon either way to be sure.

2 Lala Barina

Weakness: Fire

Lala Barina is a giant spider in Monster Hunter Wilds and spiders, in real life, hate fire. They also hate shoes but there is no shoe element in this game, but maybe Capcom could think about that in the next sequel. Jokes aside, Fire is Lala Barina’s only weakness, so aim true and well at its head or rosy behind and light this bug up.

Be careful though because while Lala Barina doesn’t have an element all its own, it can cause status effects like Paralysis which is never good in an RPG. The buds will come out of its abdomen, littering the area with pretty glowing orange petals. Players need to dodge through them to avoid being zapped on the spot which is not hard if players come into the using a ranged weapon like a Bow in the game. Bows, overall, make fights so much easier whether they have elemental damage or not.

1 Nerscylla

Nerscylla is another spider in Monster Hunter Wilds but unlike Lala Barina, this one is old. Nerscylla debuted on the 3DS in 2013 in Japan with Monster Hunter 4 and that version of Nerscylla was a bit tougher. Nerscylla is almost a pushover if players are careful about dodging its webbing. It is weak against two elements, Fire and Thunder, with the latter of which not being that effective at all.

Thunder attacks are negated except if players target the claws or belly, with the belly being the higher damage point. Fire damage is not negated at all, making it the clear winner. Players can get an effective damage boost if they target the torso, front legs, stinger, or mantle. While it looks creepy, again, players shouldn’t worry about Nerscylla or its little babies in the nest.
