Summary

  • Data miners found Monster Hunter Wilds will include unannounced monsters like Gravios and Nerscylla.
  • Gore Magala and Gypceros have also been leaked for the game.
  • Monster Hunter Wilds is shaping up to be the franchise's most expansive entry yet.

Data miners have revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds will feature the return of several as-of-yet unannounced monsters. The game's open beta test became available on October 28, 2024, and it didn't take much time for fans to comb through its code. One of the most intriguing details to come from the leak is the fact that Monster Hunter Wilds will bring back a few foes not seen since 2018's Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

Capcom's hotly anticipated action RPG has already made significant strides despite not being out yet. Nearly 25,000 Steam users were running Monster Hunter Wilds before the beta was even available on PC. Early adopters were hard at work, too, as leaks from the game's code started appearing online mere days after playtesting began.

What to Expect from Monster Hunter Wilds’ Open Beta

Monster Hunter Wilds will have a brief open beta with crossplay beginning on October 31, and even early access for PS5 players.

According to the leak, fans can expect to see Gravios, Gypceros, Nerscylla, and Gore Magala in the upcoming release. While Gore Magala hasn't been absent for very long, appearing in 2022's Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, this will be the first time the other three have made an appearance in six years. There are still plenty of beasts Monster Hunter Wilds needs to reprise, but these four are a good start.

Leaked Monster Hunter Wilds Monsters

  • Gravios
  • Gore Magala
  • Gypceros
  • Nerscylla

Interestingly, the game's code does not mention any of these monsters by name. Instead, each creature has a unique numerical ID that's remained constant across the series. Fans have learned what each of these codes represents, letting them decipher the text to learn which monsters are coming to the game, even if Capcom hasn't announced them yet. This isn't the first time this has happened, either. Monster Hunter Rise's monsters leaked before the game was released in 2020.

Even without the return of these four beasts, the next title in the Monster Hunter series is ramping up to be its biggest yet. Capcom has already announced a number of massive changes for Monster Hunter Wilds, including a 3D map, new mechanics, and armor no longer being gender-locked. While there's no official word on how many monsters will make it into the game yet, it's safe to say players will have no shortage of creatures to take on when it releases in full.

For now, Wilds is still in its Open Beta, which will run until November 3, 2024. The full game will launch on February 28, 2025, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S.
