Capcom has recently teased that Lagiacrus, a classic monster from the franchise, may appear in Monster Hunter Wilds later in 2025. Monster Hunter Wilds was a huge hit, so it’s likely that it will be supported by Capcom for a long time, and this could be one of the first new classic monsters to make a comeback in the popular action RPG.

Released in February, Monster Hunter Wilds quickly became Capcom’s fastest-selling title ever, selling over eight million units in only three days. While some gamers have criticized Monster Hunter Wilds for being too easy, the game managed to obtain glowing reviews from most critics, scoring an average score of 89 on OpenCritic.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Best Armor Skills

Not all armor skills are made equal, and these ones might just be the best Monster Hunter Wilds can offer.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ success has essentially ensured that it will be updated for a while, and information about later updates has been hinted at during the recent trailer for the game's Title Update 1. One monster that appears at the end of the trailer greatly resembles Lagiacrus, a leviathan-inspired creature that looks like a huge sea dragon that spits electricity. Despite appearing in the trailer, however, this monster is not expected for the next patch, and will only likely be added in Title Update 2. Lagiacrus was originally introduced in Monster Hunter 3, and it quickly became a fan-favorite monster. Capcom even originally planned to add Lagiacrus to Monster Hunter World, but reportedly gave up after having some animation issues.

Monster Hunter Wilds Teases Lagiacrus in Title Update 1 Trailer

Title Update 1 for Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on April 4. The update will introduce new features such as a Grand Hub where gamers will be able to interact with others, craft items, play mini-games, and more, and will also add a new monster to the game: Mizutsune. Mizutsune has recently appeared in Monster Hunter Rise and is a fairly popular monster with water-based powers.

More recently, the developers of Monster Hunter Wilds announced the schedule for new Event and Challenge Quests. Between March 19 and April 1, gamers will be able to engage with the “Like a Fire Hidden by Sand” event, and “Congalala Cravings” starts on March 26, ending on April 1, too. During April, gamers will gain access to four more events: “Anguish and Atrocity,” “King of a Faraway Sky,” “When Do Quematrice Sing,” and “Doshaguma of the Hollow.” It’s impossible to say whether Monster Hunter Wilds will continue to be as popular as it was during its release in the rest of 2025, but Capcom is at least trying to keep the experience fresh for players.
