Monster Hunter Wilds has officially gotten its first major free title update. With this comes numerous new additions to the game that range from new monsters, to new activities for hunters to engage in.

In between hunting the new monsters in this Monster Hunter Wilds update, there are new and fun activities players can partake in that were absent in the base game. The home for these activities is the Grand Hub, a new social space dedicated to unifying hunters and allowing them to interact with one another. One of the many ways you can do that is by playing the new Barrel Bowling game.

How to Play Barrel Bowling

Barrel Bowling is a new party-esque game mode that can be played in the Grand Hub. It features its own set of rules and point system that can even reward players with items that are useful when out on a hunt.

To find where you can play Barrel Bowling, upon arriving at the Grand Hub, venture off to the right and up a set of stairs that will bring you to the top of a large hill. Once there, you will find a Palico vendor named Rollie at a desk next to a pile of barrel bombs.

You are free to practice throwing these barrel bombs without having to interact with Rollie, but talking to Rollie will grant you the ability to play the game mode in its intended form. When you first speak with them, they will gift you with 10 Barrel Bowling Tickets. This is the currency needed in order to play the version of Barrel Bowling that will grant rewards.

Once you have redeemed a ticket and begun the game mode, you will have two chances to get as many points as you can. There are three types of things you can hit along the hill that reward various points:

  • Small Pins: 2 points each
  • Large Pins: 20 points each
  • Palico Statue: 200 points

After your two throws, you are granted a rank based on how many points you get, ranging from D rank (lowest) to A rank (highest). The higher your rank, the more rewards you will get. These rewards range from various items you can use in hunts, like potions, along with other tickets you can use in the Grand Hub, like meal vouchers.
