The Monster Hunter franchise is a massive franchise by Capcom. One of the many spin-offs of these games is the Monster Hunter Stories series, which has been remastered for modern consoles, allowing a whole new group of gamers to play it.
The game follows a Monster Rider, someone who rides and lives alongside monsters rather than hunting them like the characters in the mainline games. In the game, players can find countless Monsties to find and befriend. Here's how to find a Nargacuga.
What Is A Nargacuga In Monster Hunter Stories?
The Nargacuga is a Flying Wyvern in the game. Its in-game description reads, "Flying Wyverns that are fearfully fast when hunting prey. They are particularly adept at moving stealthily." These Monsties have amazing speed (in fact, they are some of the fastest ones in the game). They also have a decent attack, which makes them perfect for those who want to deal damage fast. The Monstie has a Speed Tendency, which makes sense considering its speed. It also has strengths against Water Elements, but is weak against Thunder ones.
Additionally, they excel at stealth and being unseen, which is shown by their different skills. Here's a breakdown of those skills:
- Riding Action - Stealth: "Moves while avoiding detection. Other monsters won't be able to notice you while in effect. However, Stealth won't work if you've already been seen."
- Kinship Skill - Dark Thrash: "Launches a slashing attack while unseen by the enemy."
Monster Hunter Stories Review
Capcom's spin-off of the Monster Hunter series makes for a surprisingly enjoyable turn-based RPG on Nintendo 3DS, merging addictive mechanics with cutesy graphics.
How To Find A Nargacuga In MHST
The Nargacuga is found in the Pondry Hills area, which is one of the first places players will go. However, it is one of the toughest Monsties there, so they should be careful and not try to take it on until later on in the game. In order to get one, players will have to make the Monstie retreat so that they can follow it back to their den. In order to do this, players need to use the Paintball Gun to shoot it within 3 turns of defeating it or trap it. Once that is done, they can follow it back to the Monster Den and find one of its eggs.
For players who have the Den Protector skill, they will be able to have a higher chance of making it retreat. This skill specifically increases retreating chances. The picture above shows what the Nargacuga eggs look like.
