In Monster Hunter games, each monster has exclusive rewards and materials that can only be earned by defeating that given monster. The 7-Star rarity Wind Serpent Orb, from the Elder Dragon Ibushi, is no exception.

However, with the release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, obtaining this elusive reward for defeating such a powerful monster has become far more accessible. This guide will help Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players earn the Wind Serpent Orb and show the best way to defeat the Wind Serpent Elder Dragon, Ibushi.

How To Get The Wind Serpent Orb

As stated before, a Wind Serpent Orb can only be obtained by defeating an Ibushi. Unlike other monsters, Elder Dragons like Ibushi cannot be captured, only slain. Before the Sunbreak DLC, Ibushi didn't have a standalone quest to fight it, unlike its counterpart, Narwa the Thunder Serpent. But with the addition of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Ibushi finally received its own quest at the Master-Rank level.

However, before players jump into a Master-Rank Ibushi hunt, they'll first need to gain access to him. To unlock Master-Rank Ibushi, players must first beat the Sunbreak DLC and defeat the Elder Dragon, Gaismagorm. Upon Gaismagorm's defeat, hunters will gain the ability to increase their Master-Rank levels. When they reach Master-Rank level 20, they'll receive a notice to accept and defeat a newly appeared Ibushi.

Previously in the base version of Monster Hunter Rise, before the events of Sunbreak, players were never able to truly slay an Ibushi, as it would either flee or merge with its counterpart, Narwa, before they were given a chance to do so. However, with the inclusion of the 8-Star Master Rank quest, Retribution, hunters can finally go one-on-one and slay an Ibushi for good. However, Ibushi won't go down with a fight, as it brought some new moves in Master-Rank.

Most of Ibushi's original moveset and fight overall remains the same, and it still has a significant weakness to the Dragon element and a minor weakness to Fire. However, Ibushi now has two new moves in Master-Rank, the Biting Wind Burst Combo, and Twin Bite Dragon Burst Combo.

For the Biting Wind Burst Combo, Ibushi will bite upwards with its jaw before slamming into the ground to discharge a large wind area, dealing massive damage to anyone caught in it. Similarly, with the Twin Bite Dragon Burst Combo, Ibushi will launch two quick bites before repositioning and letting out a mighty Dragon Burst, with each part of the combo dealing massive damage.

These are frightening new moves for sure, but just as before in the Monster Hunter Rise campaign, players will be allowed to Ballista, a Dragonator, and a Wyvern shot against the beast. Upon defeating Ibushi, players can now carve at its corpse and claim its materials. The Wind Serpent Orb is a 7-Star rarity reward, so it may take a few attempts until they eventually earn one.
