With Monster Hunter Rise's first major expansion set to release this coming summer, Capcom has been teasing the franchise's legions of fans with the promise of new information about what it will entail. The developer had previously revealed that more information for Sunbreak would be coming in the Spring and recently announced a new digital event set for a week from today on March 15th. Many fans have been anxiously awaiting details on what kind of new content the expansion will hold with the event set to reveal a slew of new monsters for players to challenge.
Monster Hunter Rise saw massive success for the long-running monster hunting franchise following its release in March 2021 as a Switch exclusive. Rise recently eclipsed 8 million units sold following the long-awaited release of the game's PC version and Capcom previously confirmed Rise's Sunbreak expansion would be on par with Monster Hunter World's well-received Iceborne expansion. Now, with Sunbreak's scheduled release only a few months away, Capcom is preparing to reveal plenty of new details about the game's first paid DLC, particularly highlighting newly arriving monsters.
While the official tweet announcing the event didn't give any hard details, new monster reveals were confirmed to be a focal point of the upcoming broadcast. Alongside new monsters like the expansion's cover creature, the Malzeno, previous announcements related to the expansion have also confirmed the addition of more powerful variants of several pre-existing beasts like the Shogun Ceanataur and a new version of Rise's cover monster, the Magnamalo. The event will likely also feature more information on several previously revealed monsters like the Lunagaron.
While Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak's reveals so far have mostly been in the form of teaser trailers, Capcom has already confirmed plenty of new elements coming to Rise with the game's first paid expansion. Previous trailers revealed new Silkbind attacks for players to utilize as well as the addition of Master Rank quests featuring many of the newly added monsters. Players will also be embarking to a new hub area that will house much of the DLC's content with the Hunter accompanying Rondine to the port village of Elgado.
Fans of Monster Hunter will be anxious to see if Sunbreak can follow in the footsteps of Monster Hunter World's critically acclaimed Iceborne expansion. Iceborne saw sweeping changes made to Monster Hunter World not only with the addition of the Hoarfrost Reach and nearly 30 new monsters, but with the expansion also seeing consistent updates after its release adding even more new content. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will look to give the game's brave hunters even more reason to charge into battle when it releases this summer.
Monster Hunter Rise is available now for PC and Switch, with the Sunbreak expansion set to release in Summer 2022.
