Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players are faced with increasingly dangerous enemies and will need to keep their weapons upgraded in order to face these foes. In order to do this, players will need to get a new endgame upgrade material known as Afflicted Fangs. These items are unique compared to most other monster materials since they don't come from one specific monster, instead requiring players to tackle certain end-game quests. While getting Afflicted materials in Monster Hunter Rise is certainly challenging, the reward is well worth it and will make the rest of the players' time in the new expansion much more manageable.
Afflicted Fangs are a new addition to the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion and are only needed for very late-game upgrades. Newer players to Monster Hunter Rise don't need to worry about these items just yet, but players struggling to beat endgame quests will want to hunt some of these down.
How to Get Afflicted Fangs
Afflicted Fangs can be received from A★★★★ Anomaly Quests against certain targets, which only unlock after the player has reached Master Rank 50 and cleared the Urgent Quest. Specifically, players will need to hunt either Afflicted Nargacuga, Afflicted Barioth, Afflicted Garangolm, or Afflicted Magnamalo. Clearing any of these Anomaly Quests will guarantee the player one Afflicted Fang. Still, to get more, players should be sure to break monster parts and get all available carves after defeating the monster.
Each of these things will give an additional 20% chance to earn another Afflicted Fang. All these hunts will be challenging, but players should farm whichever monster they find the easiest to get Afflicted Fangs.
Afflicted Fang Uses
Afflicted Fangs are used to upgrade certain weapons to their Rarity 10 versions. This is the highest rarity of weapon in the game as of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and they are more powerful than the strongest weapons in Monster Hunter Rise. Aside from upgrading weapons, the Afflicted Fang item is also needed to upgrade certain jewels to their +4 versions, including the Wirebug, Earplug, Hellfire, Fate, and Enhancer Jewels. These provide easier access to the Wirebug Whisperer, Earplugs, Hellfire Cloak, Good Luck, and Power Prolonger skills, respectively.
Afflicted Fangs are only required for certain Rarity 10 weapons, as others may require Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak's Afflicted Claw endgame item instead to upgrade to Rarity 10. Players should check which Afflicted material their weapon needs before facing off against these Afflicted Monsters.
Monster Hunter Rise is out now for PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles.
