Most of the weapon upgrade trees in Monster Hunter Wilds focus on using materials dropped from a specific monster to make a weapon that reflects how that monster fights. Depending on the upgrade tree you pursue, some weapons will be able to deal elemental damage, which may end up doing more damage than base physical damage to some monsters.

One of the elements you'll be able to use on your weapons is poison. If you want to further upgrade and use a poison weapon, you'll need a Poison Sac; here's where to get them.

There are many optional slay and hunt quests in Monster Hunter Wilds; but what's the difference between them?

Where To Get Posion Sacs In Monster Hunter Wilds

Poison Sacs are a drop from Rompopolos, the most common monster you'll find in the Oilwell Basin. Oilwell Basin is the third region you'll go to when following the main story of the game, and one of the first missions there will have you fighting a Rompopolo. After defeating that one and being able to free roam, you'll find Rompopolos all over the region by checking the mini-map, and you can also begin an optional quest to specifically hunt one down.

Poison Sacs have a chance of dropping whenever you carve up the monster after you kill it, though it's not always a guaranteed drop despite still having a high drop rate.

It's best to bring some poison protection and antidotes when fighting Rompopolos.

Tips For Getting Poison Sacs From Rompopolos In Monster Hunter Wilds

While there's always a chance of a Poison Sac dropping, you can greatly increase your chances of getting one by specifically attacking a wound on a Rompopolo's tail. Wounds will open up after you attack the same place constantly, so during your fight with a Rompoplolo continuously stay behind it and attack its tail. The tail is arguably the most dangerous part of the body since it can cause poison to explode from the earth, so focusing on hitting it will help you keep an eye on what it does next. A Rompopolo's affinities are:

  • Weakness - Water
  • Resistance - Poison

Once a wound opens up on the tail, focus on it and destroy it. Destroying a wound on the tail also doesn't guarantee a Poison Sac, but doing this and carving up the monster's body after killing it will almost always guarantee a Poison Sac. Being sure to carve up the monster after defeating it will also probably give you all the other necessary materials for whatever upgrade you're currently working towards and needing the Poison Sac for.
