The Arch-Tempered Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds puts up a challenging fight, and those who beat it are rewarded with the materials needed to make the Rey Dau Gamma set, which more or less serves as a direct upgrade to both Alpha and Beta versions of the same armor.

The Rey Dau Gamma set is the first Gamma-level armor in the game, with the latter being reserved as rewards that drop only from Arch-Tempered monsters in MH Wilds. It's a perfectly decent endgame set, and if you're not sure about whether or not it's worth farming for, here's a quick overview of what you can expect from this armor.

Skills

At a glance, the most valuable piece from the Rey Dau Gamma set is the helmet, which grants an equivalent of two Level 3 and two Level 2 armor skills. It'll fit nicely in a ton of other MH Wilds builds, and it'll work well with the rest of the Rey Dau Gamma set as well.

The skills provided by this set may not seem like much compared to other builds that can fit maxed-out Weakness Exploit and Agitator together, but if you combine all the Rey Dau Gamma set's skills, their synergies become more apparent.

When active, Latent Power and Maximum Might provide 80% Affinity (85% with Weakness Exploit 1 from the helmet), which is great for skills that have such high uptimes. Latent Power is very easy to activate (get hit for 130 HP worth of damage or fight a monster for two minutes), and with four pieces of the Rey Dau Gamma set, it will last for 210 seconds.

It's also worth mentioning that the Rey Dau Gamma set has the Guts (Tenacity) Group Skill, which boosts attack but lowers defense, but lets you survive one lethat hit. After triggering that effect, your defense and resistance stats are increased.

Best Gunlance Weapons In Monster Hunter Wilds, Ranked

Hunters who rely on the Gunlance in Monster Hunter Wilds will want to focus on acquiring the following versions of the weapon.

Latent Power also decreases Stamina consumption, which, when paired with Stamina Surge, decreases the downtime of Maximum Might.

Decoration Slots

The Rey Dau Gamma set's decoration slots are limited compared to other endgame sets. Still, it has a total of four Level 3 Decoration Slots and a single Level 1 slot for something like a Growth (Self-Improvement) or Brace (Flinch Free) Jewel.

With four Level 3 slots and the armor skills above, players can reach 100% Affinity from Equipment Skills alone. You can go with three Tenderizer Jewels (Weakness Explot) and one Chain Jewel (Burst), or go all-in on the Burst Skill and use a weapon with 20% Affinity and Critical Boost decorations.

You can also over-cap your Affinity by maxing out Weakness Exploit, in case you want to use a weapon with negative Affinity.

The lack of Level 1 and 2 Decoration Slots means you'll have to rely on your Talisman if you want quality of life skills like Quick Sheathe or Recovery Up. If you'd rather build for more damage, use Counter Charm III for Counterstrike 3.
