The Gravios returns in Monster Hunter Wilds with a few updated attacks and a much more menacing presence. It's an enormous Wyvern with a boulder-like carapace and a bunch of tricks in its sleeve.

While beating a Gravios isn't the hardest thing to do in the game, it can be a bit troublesome for beginner MH Wilds players who are facing it for the first time. In this guide, we'll cover the main weaknesses of this monster as well as some important tips on how to find one, and what rewards you can get from fighting it.

The Agitator Skill only works when monsters are enraged in Monster Hunter Wilds; here's exactly how it works.

Gravios usually spawn in the depths of the Oilwell Basin in MH Wilds. The extreme heat in this area will take a toll on your hunter, so make sure to pack a Cool Drink or two, or use the Adaptability armor skill to negate the passive health loss from the heat.

If you're using a melee weapon, aim for the belly. The Gravios' carapace plates protecting its belly will eventually break when it sustains enough damage, exposing the monster's softer bits. This is different from a Wound — a broken Gravios belly remains broken for the rest of the hunt.

For ranged hunters, aim for the face, wings, and tail. You can also aim for the belly, but unless you're using Pierce Ammo/Coatings, you're better off aiming for something else. A Heavy Bowgun with Water Ammo can absolutely destroy a Gravios by focusing on the belly.

The base of the Gravios' tail is also a weakpoint, though if you're using a large, bladed melee weapon like the Long Sword or Greatsword, you should aim to cut the length of the tail off first, so everyone gets an extra carve. Doing so will also make the Gravios' tail swipe attacks weaker.

All Status Ailments as well as Flash Pods, Shock Traps, and Pitfall Traps are effective against Gravios.

Attacks to Watch For

When you're trying to break a Gravios' belly, it'll sometimes release either white or purple gas. The former will put you to sleep, while the latter will poison you. While the poison is annoying to deal with, be careful not to get hit with the sleep gas, as it'll make you vulnerable to the Gravios' slow but powerful beam attacks.

When fighting a Gravious, bring an Energy Drink to cleanse the Sleep status.

Players will get the usual slew of related monster parts when they slay or capture a Gravios. This includes other general-use materials like Inferno Sacs, Sleep Sacs, and rare Wyvern Gems.

Keep in mind that if you're looking for specific Gravios parts, you'll want to break specific parts of the monster to increase your odds of getting the parts you need. High-value Gravios parts include:

  • Belly: Gravios Pleura+
  • Head: Gravios Skull
  • Wings: Gravios Wings
  • Tail: Gravios Medulla
