Mantles return in Monster Hunter Wilds, and while the selection this time around is smaller than in World, they still remain as useful as ever. They're great for supporting certain playstyles, and players can still get great hunt clear times even without using them.

If you're a beginner to MH Wilds, then using a Mantle can help you ease into the game's learning curve a little bit. They can be absolute lifesavers too in the right circumstances. This guide covers all the mantles in the game as of writing, including their effects and how to get them.

Monster Hunter Wilds Mending Mantle description

First, Mantles in Monster Hunter Wilds are given to the player by Gemma once they reach certain points in the main story. There's no need to finish any Optional quests, and none of the mantles can be upgraded like before. What you see is what you get, and thankfully, all mantles are useful straight out of the box.

Monster Hunter Wilds Mantle List

Mantle

Effect

How to Get

Ghillie Mantle

Hides you from all monsters. Taking or dealing damage will break the effect.

Given to you at the start of the game as an Essential Item.

Mending Mantle

Continuously restores your health while worn.

Defeat Low Rank Xu Wu.

Rocksteady Mantle

Reduces all incoming damage and prevents you from hit reactions (flinching, knockback, etc). Additionally provides resistance against strong winds, tremors, and roars.

Defeat Low Rank Nu Udra and complate the Black Flame quest.

Evasion Mantle

Greatly increases the invulnerability window (iframes) when dodging. Perfectly evading an attack grants a temporary attack boost.

Complete the main campaign in Low Rank and beat the Frenzied Nerscylla in the Wounded Hollow.

Corrupted Mantle

Decreases health, but boosts your attack and Affinity. Consecutive attacks against monsters further boost attack and Affinity.

Defeat High Rank Gore Magala.

All mantles (except for Ghillie Mantle) have a 600-second cooldown. Mending Mantle has the shortest duration (60 seconds) while Rocksteady and Evasion Mantle last for 90 seconds. Meanwhile, Ghillie and Corrupted Mantle last for 120 seconds.

Players can only bring two mantles at a time, and one of those slots is reserved exclusively for Ghillie Mantle. You can select which mantle to use in the Change Equipment menu at the Smithy or in any of your tents.

Unlike the mantles in MH World, the ones available here are relatively tame, though Corrupted Mantle is popular in the speedrunning community for its massive damage boost. Unless the mantles in Wilds receive upgrade options or decoration slots, players don't need to worry much about incorporating them in regular gameplay, though they're still very useful.
