A Minecraft player has recreated Counter-Strike 2's smoke grenades in Mojang's game, and the experiment has impressed other players. Since its launch, Minecraft has been in the spotlight for its incredible creative potential. Players can exercise their creativity by building highly detailed constructions or making skins and mods to turn Minecraft into something totally different.

Minecraft has different versions, with the Bedrock and Java editions being the best known. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is the go-to version for players looking for a cross-play experience. But while Minecraft: Java Edition is widely known thanks to its support for mods, Minecraft: Bedrock Edition doesn't have this feature. Despite this, the Bedrock Edition has a store where players can buy content such as skins, texture packs, and pre-built maps. And it was using this version that one crafty player recreated an item from another equally popular game.

Reddit user Vulchaestus has recreated the smoke grenades from Counter-Strike 2 in Minecraft and shared the result with the Minecraft community. In the almost three-minute video, the player throws a grenade at different types of structures and shows how the item interacts with them. In the first case, for example, the grenade is thrown into a square space, and it fills the space evenly. In another case shown throughout the video, they throw the grenade and the smoke goes around the curves of a wall. When the grenade is thrown into an open area, it makes smoke in the shape of an ellipsoid much like the smoke grenade does in Counter-Strike 2.

Player Gives Counter-Strike 2 Smoke Grenades a Minecraft Spin

The player's work impressed the Minecraft community, with comments asking how the OP could reproduce the effect so accurately. In response to the question, the player said they used a customized particle emitter, a resource pack, and "technical work to create the grenade." With the particle emitter, they made the particles bounce off the walls, spreading out randomly from the center, allowing the smoke to fill the spaces. One of Counter-Strike 2's features that gained more prominence at the game's launch was the responsive grenades. With the introduction of better smoke grenades to Counter-Strike 2, they now behave like objects. Because of this, the grenades interact with the environment, reacting to lighting, gunfire, and explosions.

Minecraft may not support mods in the Bedrock version, but Vulchaestus' work is still impressive. After all, should they decide to refine the idea even further, there's a chance that the player could launch a finished version of Counter-Strike 2's smoke grenades in Minecraft. That is yet another example of Minecraft becoming a kind of engine, where, using the game's resources, Minecraft players give life to ideas that would have no trouble becoming full games.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
