If players want to go to the Nether, they will want to make sure they have what it requires to be able to survive the experience without dying. Here is everything to know about making Netherite within Minecraft.
How To Craft Netherite Armor & Tools In Minecraft
Netherite is an upgrade above diamond gear and tools, which is something many players will want to try and get. This material can only be found within the Nether. Netherite items are by far some of the best items to have within Minecraft since Netherite is fire and lava-proof. The player is able to craft a selection of items such as:
- Netherite Sword
- Netherite Pickaxe
- Netherite Axe
- Netherite Shovel
- Netherite Hoe
- Netherite Helmet
- Netherite Chestplate
- Netherite Leggings
- Netherite Boots
Each of these items can be made at a smithing table. However, most players do not know where Netherite is located or how to get this material to make everything.
Craft A Nether Portal
The first step is for the player to create a Nether Portal, which is constructed by getting 14 Obsidian and one Flint and Steel (or one Fire Charge). The player can get Obsidian by finding Lava and pouring water into a water bucket or bringing a water ravine to a location with Lava. Once the water hits the Lava, it will remove the lava and become Obsidian. To mine this Obsidian, the player will then need to get a Diamond Pickaxe or Netherite Pickaxe to get this material.
Once the player has 14 Obsidian blocks, they will need to make a frame, which will be made by making five blocks high on both sides, then four blocks wide (two on top and two on the bottom). Once the frame is made, the player can use Flint and Steel to light INSIDE the portal to activate the portal — or throw a Fire Charge inside the portal to activate it as well.
The player does not need both Flint and Steel and the Fire Charge. Just one or the other.
Search For Ancient Debris In The Nether
Once the Portal is active, then the player needs to pass through the portal to get into the Nether. Once within the Nether, the player needs to search for Ancient Debris, which can only be mined with a Diamond Pickaxe. This material spawns in clusters similar to Lapis Lazuli ore, which is found within the normal world of Minecraft. When gathering Ancient Debris, the player will need to then smelt the Ancient Debris into Netherite Scrap.
Every one Ancient Debris gives One Netherite Scrap. Keep this in mind when trying to make Netherite armor and tools.
The player will then need to gather four Netherite Scraps and four Gold Ingots to make a single Netherite Ingot. This is a difficult ratio since the player will need many Gold Ingots and many Netherite Scraps. Another item that is going to be essential is obtaining a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template.

How To Upgrade Diamond Armor & Tools To Netherite Armor & Tools
If the player wants to obtain the Netherite Armor set, they will first need to have a full Diamond Armor set or a diamond tool and place it on a Smithing Table.
In order, the player will need to place down:
- Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template
- A piece of Diamond armor or tool
- A Netherite Ingot
This will upgrade the Diamond Armor to Netherite. The same can be done for each tool the player wants to upgrade. This will give the player the ability to have Netherite tools and armor.
With the Minecraft 1.20 update, the player will also get the ability to add what is called Armor Trims. There are 11 Armor Trims, and they come in ten colors. While they have no improvement other than just being cosmetic, it is good for the player to have this upgrade to look like the best warrior in Minecraft.
