- A fan create an impressive Roblox movie trailer edit inspired by the Minecraft movie trailer.
- The trailer received positive fan responses.
- Despite Roblox's lack of storyline, the edited trailer showcases the potential for a film adaptation on the platform.
A creative fan has edited the recent trailer for A Minecraft Movie into one for a fictitious film adaptation of Roblox, giving fans a glimpse of what a movie based on the massively multiplayer online platform could look like. The trailer garnered a huge response from fans online, as Roblox and Minecraft players came together in appreciation as the edit made waves on social media.
When A Minecraft Movie was officially revealed online recently with a short teaser trailer, it set the internet alight as many lambasted its visual style, which is a hybrid of CGI environments, animated characters, and live-action actors. The trailer contained a lot of references to Minecraft and briefly introduced the main conflict while leading up to its biggest reveal, Jack Black's portrayal of the game's main character, Steve.
Roblox Player Spends Year Trying to Get Into Old 2008 Account and Finally Succeeds
A persistent Roblox player finally recovers their 16-year-old account, and once again has access to all the items obtained and games played.
Reddit user BacongamingExe took to the official Roblox subreddit to share their vision of what the Minecraft movie trailer would look like if it were based on Roblox with an edited version of the original teaser. Their version shows the same clips of the main cast arriving in the world of Minecraft, but instead of that game's world, they find themselves inside one of many Roblox games.
"A Roblox Movie" Fan Trailer Ignites the Internet
Fans in the comments largely praised the video, with some saying they preferred it over the actual Minecraft trailer, while others pointed out some other suggestions for Roblox references to insert. Some players suggested Steve introduce himself as "Bacon Hair" rather than "Noob," as he does in the edit, in reference to an inside joke among Roblox fans about the appearance of the default hairstyle many new players use.
In any case, the edited trailer shows significant attention to detail, as the creator even replaced the opening text with font and language related to Roblox as the teaser opens with the game's logo. The teaser also ends with a joke "release date" indicating that the film will be in theaters "never" and imploring viewers to just play Roblox to experience the story.
Of course, given the nature of Roblox as an open online platform for users to make their own custom games, there is little in the way of an actual storyline or characters for a potential film version to try and adapt. However, the fan trailer shows off several worlds from various Roblox games, demonstrating the potential for an original storyline that utilizes elements from a variety of popular experiences available on the platform.
