This year's Minecraft Live will air on September 28, Minecraft developer Mojang Studios has revealed. The virtual event, usually filled with all sorts of announcements related to Minecraft, evolved from Minecon.

Earlier in September, Mojang Studios outlined its future plans regarding the development of Minecraft, which celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2024. The team also pointed out some changes to its yearly interactive livestream, Minecraft Live, including a shift to a more focused biannual event that will no longer host Minecraft's often controversial mob vote campaigns. More than a week after Mojang Studios unveiled these changes, the company has already disclosed the date for the next Minecraft Live.

Minecraft Releases Big New Bedrock Update for September 2024

Minecraft releases a major update for Bedrock players adding in some new experimental features and fixing a handful of bugs throughout the game.

Minecraft Live 2024 will take place on September 28 at 1 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Owen Jones, Mojang Studios' director of creative communications, announced in a recent blog post. This year's event will feature a fresh look and feel while still being packed with news, according to Jones, who claimed that never-before-seen Minecraft game drops will make an appearance in the stream as well. Mojang Studios previously promised to provide multiple free game drops for Minecraft throughout the year instead of releasing just one during the summer like it did in the past.

Fans can watch the September 2024 Minecraft Live on YouTube, Twitch, or the official Minecraft website. The livestream will be broadcast in English straight from Mojang Studios' headquarters in Sweden, but the company said it would later release translations in languages like Simplified Chinese, French, and Mexican, among many others. According to Owen, the upcoming show is a must-watch for both veterans and beginners of the popular sandbox title.

In addition to showing off new content and explaining future updates, Mojang Studios could also give more details about Minecraft's Sony PS5 port during the next Minecraft Live. A preview for this version of the game featured improvements such as higher quality graphics settings and native 4K resolution support. Mojang Studios, which is porting Minecraft to the PS5 as part of its initiative to bring the game to as many devices as possible, also claimed in September that it would be exploring ways to enhance the game's multiplayer experience.

Minecraft's latest major update, Tricky Trials, came out in June. It introduced new procedurally generated underground structures called Trial Chambers that contain challenging enemies and plenty of loot. The 1.21 update for Minecraft also added new items, weapons, and even mobs.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
