  • A Minecraft fan completed the entire Breath of the Wild map in a custom build after 3 years.
  • The map includes iconic landmarks and was manually built with mods and world editing tools.
  • Fans can soon download the custom build for free, potentially inspiring more ambitious Minecraft projects.

Minecraft fans have set out to complete plenty of mammoth construction projects before, but one player's complete replica of the entire Breath of the Wild map stands out as one of the most phenomenal projects pulled off in the sandbox game. This huge Minecraft build was crafted largely by hand and was recently finished after three years of consistent work that is documented throughout a series of YouTube videos from the creator.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild revolutionized the open-world experience after its launch in March 2017, with its diverse and varied range of environments quickly making the game's huge map an iconic one. Many fans have brought The Legend of Zelda series to their Minecraft worlds in various capacities in the past, especially since the more recent release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the long-awaited follow-up to Breath of the Wild.

Minecraft's Pale Garden Could Have a Perfect Opposite With One Addition

Minecraft's new Pale Garden continues a trend of strange, creepy biomes, so Mojang should consider making its next biome the total opposite.

Now, with their three-year project finally coming to an end, the Minecraft enthusiast and YouTube creator known as Grazzy has brought the entire kingdom of Hyrule to life in Minecraft. The map features everything from the major Legend of Zelda landmarks, such as Hyrule Castle and Korok Forest, all the way down to the little details, like the various village ruins scattered across the land. A mix of mods and world editing tools were used to bring out the project's full potential, including WorldPainter, which was used to carve out and polish the foundation of the world's basic geography so that it could then be built on by hand.

This Custom Minecraft Build is a Perfect Replica of Breath of the Wild's Map

The creator gradually brought the many different environments throughout Hyrule to life by building them manually in creative mode, and though most of this construction appears to have been done alone, some of the creator's friends did assist with various parts of the project. A post shared by the creator on Reddit includes some screenshots of key parts of the project, such as the completed Hyrule Castle and the Great Deku Tree. The creator also plans to upload images in the near future featuring the entirety of this massive Minecraft map loaded in all at once.

What's more, fans of Minecraft will be able to check out this custom build for themselves in a few weeks when the map creator makes the world available to download for free. This should allow fans of The Legend of Zelda series to journey through Hyrule with fresh eyes in the block-based sandbox game, and may just inspire more talented Minecraft builders to bring some of their own ideas to life in the game - no matter how ambitious they may be.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
