- Players can enjoy unique character interactions with Deadpool in various outfits, including a humorous swimsuit option with a hot pink number.
- Wade's different outfits in Midnight Suns vary in coolness, lore-friendliness, and authenticity, but the X-Force outfit stands out for its iconic appeal.
Marvel's Midnight Suns has had success despite a rocky start. The game represents an ambitious move for Firaxis in moving toward a fully explorable 3D realm with lots of character dialogue animations to consider. But it also brought Marvel fans something they'd long awaited: an RPG-adjacent experience with beloved characters like Dr. Strange, Wolverine, and Deadpool. Deadpool is, unfortunately, a DLC character, but the DLC is worth the price of admission.
Marvel's Midnight Suns: Best Deck for Deadpool
The legendary Marvel mercenary can be spectacular or a total dud in Marvel's Midnight Suns depending on how well players build his deck.
In excitement for the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, many fans may be revisiting Midnight Suns. After all, there are tons of unique interactions for the player to enjoy between Deadpool, the Hunter, and everyone hanging around the Abbey. One of the fun additional features of the game is that players can constantly switch up what characters wear into battle or just during downtime. So which Deadpool outfits in Midnight Suns are the best?
Ranking Criteria
- "Cool" factor -- does this outfit say "superhero"?
- Authenticity factor -- does this feel like something this character would wear?
- Lore factor -- how does this outfit integrate with not just the lore of the game Midnight Suns but the character's lore?
12 Bonus Entry: Swimsuits
I think We All Know Which One Is The Winner
- Wade isn't much for showing off his bod, but the game has a hot tub, so...
- The three distinct styles let the Merc express his emotions through his wardrobe
Obviously, Deadpool isn't one for sunning himself or relaxing poolside. Everyone in the game has a couple of swimsuit options (or more), so it figures that the developers gave him some, too. Including that hot pink number in the middle.
Wade generally loves a good bit and a hot pink speedo definitely falls under "bit" territory. But if you want to just base it on lore-friendliness, authenticity, and coolness...swimsuits rank very low indeed.
11 Deadpool: Default Abbey Outfit
Is A Skin-Tight Shirt What Wade Wants In His Off-Time?
- Nothing too exciting here, but nothing outwardly bad either
- Similar color scheme and silhouette to Deadpool's regular outfit
Wade already wears a pretty tight suit to take down his targets in combat/at work. So, though the tactical cargos are probably both comfy and useful, a skin-tight muscle shirt may not be Wade's go-to downtime outfit. It also just feels very generic for a character who is anything but generic.
The lore and authenticity factors are low, too, for similar reasons. But if players want an Abbey outfit that evokes Deadpool's traditional combat threads, this does the trick.
10 Deadpool: Xcessive Force
A Bland Homage To A Superior Outfit
- Bears resemblance in color scheme to the X-Force Deadpool outfit
- Feels a little repetitive and uninspired
Oh look -- it's the same cargo pants but now with a grayscale camo pattern! That shirt also looks suspiciously familiar, but with a couple of things missing...it's true that some of the outfits in Midnight Suns recycle assets. But there's a ton of outfits for each character. They can't all be inspired, amazing, and totally unbelievable.
The Xcessive Force outfit echoes Deadpool's X-Force color scheme with gray, black, and red. But it doesn't capture the same sense of coolness. That big "X" on his chest feels distracting and out of place in comparison to the original outfit. Many players might favor another Abbey outfit for better aesthetics, as well as lore and authenticity factors.
9 Deadpool: Merch With A Mouth
This Entry Is Sponsored By Stark Industries
- Low cool, lore, and authenticity factor scores
- High real-world value potential
The only thing Marvel needs to do is to actually release these outfits in the real world and the prophecy will be complete. That said, some fans do want to get a hold of outfits like Deadpool's Merch With a Mouth. Who doesn't need a comfy red hoodie that happens to represent the best mercenary out there?
Marvel: Deadpool’s Best Friends, Ranked
Deadpool has a long comic book history of irritating people, but in spite of that, he has a surprisingly long list of good friends.
The rest of the outfit is just jeans and matching sneakers, which reduces the overall cool, lore, and authenticity factors. Let's be real: Deadpool, if he's off-duty, would probably wear slides or crocs (non-sport mode).
8 Deadpool: Tourist Trap
There's A Salem's Lot Joke Here Somewhere
- Acts as a reference to Deadpool's connection to magic in the Marvel comic universe
- Shares a color scheme with his traditional combat outfit
Witches and Salem feature prominently in Midnight Suns due to The Hunter's background, as well as Wanda, Agatha, and Nico. Several characters can sport Salem-themed gear, like Deadpool's Tourist Trap tank top and red/black camo pants.
But this may also reference Deadpool's role in the comic arc Last Days of Magic, which took place after the events of Secret Wars. Despite Deadpool's representation in Midnight Suns, he's a very integral character to the overall fabric of the Marvel comic universe. Wade might not want to admit that either, though.
7 Deadpool: Taco Club
Ya Got Any Of Those Taquitos?
- Evokes a classic Deadpool food love
- Ties into the taco truck Abbey addition The Hunter can make in Midnight Suns
Deadpool loves Tex-Mex, so Midnight Suns had to pay homage to this well-known fact. He does enjoy saying "chimichangas," but he doesn't enjoy the food quite so much as the word. Perhaps he serves it at his food truck in Midnight Suns along with tacos that he so dearly loves?
But this shirt merely has a taco on it which reads a bit too generic for many fans. All of this adds up to an outfit that scores very well in the lore and authenticity factors. It's also just an orange tank top, jeans, and sneakers, so it doesn't rank as high on the "cool" scale either.
6 Deadpool: Immortal Lover
Sorry Thanos...
- Purple looks good on Wade
- Lady Death is a major romance for Deadpool in the comics but may be missed by an average player
Fans all know Wade can't really die. In fact, it's kind of a tension point for Wade himself. This outfit references this fact while also evoking the image of Lady Death from Marvel Comics in a nice easter egg. She, as of late, has shown interest in Deadpool (sorry Thanos). So this outfit, being called "Immortal Lover," has a dual meaning in a way.
Marvel: Deadpool’s Best Love Interests, Ranked
Deadpool is one Marvel character with many former romantic partners, but most of them don't last long, or end well.
The outfit itself is cute, but it doesn't evoke the real and deep nature of Deadpool and Lady Death's relationship. Unless someone is an avid comic reader, they might not get this reference at all. Still...it's a big relationship for Deadpool, and it's lovely to see Wade's boo thing get her own hoodie.
5 Deadpool: Dreamweaver
I Believe We Can Reach The Morning Light
- Features the most majestic of animals: a unicorn with a sweet stache
- Echoes a sad fact of Wade's childhood
Unicorns and rainbows are all peaches and cream, right? Well, for Wade, there is a version of his childhood where his dad abused him as he clutched a unicorn plushie. Deadpool isn't known for his reliability when it comes to retelling events, and writers have retold his backstory many times over the years.
The movies also suggest that unicorns are a turn-on for the quirky anti-hero for an alternative route. But really, aren't the tie-dye and unicorns just a denial coping mechanism that juxtaposes seemingly happy and bright things with Deadpool's internal loneliness and sadness? Nah, probably the clopper/brony thing.
4 Deadpool: Default
Why Mess With A Good Thing, Huh?
- Originally created by Weasel and what players get when they first unlock Deadpool in the game
- There's a logic to the color use and that's why Deadpool doesn't wear brown pants
It's called a classic for a reason. Deadpool's signature suit uses red and black color-blocking to cut an intimidating silhouette, but it serves another purpose entirely, as pointed out by Ryan Reynolds as he portrayed Deadpool in the films. The red "hides" the blood whenever he gets hurt.
The white eye holes may just be in Wade's imagination. However, that Deadpool belt buckle is fully real and intentional. Weasel, the weapons designer and friend to Wade, helped create Deadpool's suit and many of his weapons. The main design choice involved incorporating lots of compartments for Wade to keep weapons that he could use at a moment's notice in combat.
3 Deadpool: Midnight Suns
Sometimes A Merc Just Needs 37 Pieces Of Flair
- Unique outfit for Deadpool after completing the Midnight Suns challenge at the Forge
- Features lots of lore-appropriate items like a garlic necklace, witch hat, and the iconic gold and black color combo
So the outfit doesn't quite come with an Office Space level of flair. But the swagger of the Midnight Suns Deadpool outfit is undeniable. The sheen of the gold, the wizard hat's regalness...it ranks highly on the cool and authenticity factors. The lore factor is pretty solid, too, since the gold/black color combo runs through the whole of Midnight Suns.
Marvel's Midnight Suns: Best Hero Combos, Ranked
Marvel's Midnight Suns pits characters from Marvel Comics against each other — but which ones fight best together?
This suit especially comes alive in combat with beautiful animations and the absurdity of that hat. Overall, it feels like something Deadpool would love.
