An artist and big-time fan of Firaxis Game's Midnight Suns has taken the initiative to craft a movie-style poster for the game. With longtime favorites posing alongside deep-cut heroes from the game, the fan art movie poster looks like the developers of Midnight Suns could have commissioned it . Announced in the summer of 2021, then delayed into the winter of 2022, Midnight Suns arrived in December with reasonably positive reviews. A unique smattering of niche genres most would not expect from a franchise with the mainstream appeal of Marvel, Midnight Suns married the top-down tactical combat of X-Com with the card-battling mechanics of Slay The Spire, and a healthy dose of Persona's relationship management system thrown in for good measure. While not everybody's cup of tea, fans were excited to see a studio take a chance with such a monolith IP. With four post-launch DLC's promised as a part of Midnight Sun's season pass, there is plenty more to look forward to in the months to come. Rock Rider, a graphic designer for the Escapist Magazine, took it upon themselves to make a movie poster for one of their favorite games of 2022, with the end result being a Hollywood-quality piece of content straddling the line between art and advertisement for Midnight Suns. The central antagonist, Lilith, looms large over the rest of the cast, who strike action poses beneath her demonic visage. There are plenty of A-list heroes present and accounted for, including Captain America, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange with his spell-slinging arms spread wide as he casts his gaze to the cosmos. Other heroes, who have less screen time in Marvel's current slate of movies, but are central to the plot of the game are present as well. Blade, Magik, and Ghost Rider all pose from the periphery.
Between the recently released console patch for Midnight Suns, the slew of promised content over the course of 2023, and Firaxis Game's modding community, which ranks among the most dedicated and prolific in the industry, now is a great time for fans of superheroes and strategy like Rock Rider. With a wild, never-before-seen amalgam of gameplay mechanics, and a story that, while criticized for its quip-laden dialog, is up to par for the rest of the Marvel universe, even gamers initially turned off by the turn-based strategy and card battler genres can find something to love about Midnight Suns.
Fan art like Rock Rider's movie poster provides an alternative to traditional review scores. Seeing the passion a fan base exudes for a game like Midnight Suns can be a powerful indicator that it is worth the time and money to experience. For those on the fence, perhaps the Avengers-style poster for will be the last bit of encouragement needed to take the plunge and see what comes next for Midnight Suns.
Midnight Suns is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Versions for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One are currently in development.
