Velan Studios’ first-person shooter party game, Midnight Murder Club, will be wilding its way into early access on March 13 for PC and PS5. Revealed in June as a hide-and-seek experience for up to six players, Midnight Murder Club was originally slated for a December 2024 release on Steam. Instead, players received a crossover beta and the news that it would be coming to PS5 as well.

Along with that announcement came a new trailer at The Game Awards 2024, revealing a few more details about the intriguing game. Midnight Murder Club takes place in an expansive, pitch black mansion, and players must rely on the beam from their flashlight to see. However, turning on the light will also let enemies know where to aim their gunfire. And since that won’t always be a wise choice, the house's invaders will instead have to use their ears and proximity chat to make their way through the sprawling halls and rooms.

After its initial delay, Midnight Murder Club will be entering early access for Steam and PS5 gamers on March 13. Velan Studios is hoping to get plenty of feedback from players as they stumble and shoot their way through Wormwood Manor. Jumping into the “shooter-in-the-dark” on PS5 will require a PlayStation Network account, a PS Plus membership, and an internet connection.

Midnight Murder Club Early Access Start Date

Midnight Murder Club already has four gameplay modes — Free for All, Thief in the Night, Team Deathmatch, and Headhunters — that the community was able to check out during the crossplay beta. Along with the early access launch will come a new game mode called Wildcards in which players will select cards that alter the rules for the whole party. The choices range from exploding upon death to granting everyone super speed, and after every match, new cards will be awarded to increase the zaniness.

Velan Studios has also revealed the Midnight Murder Club Guest Pass Edition, which will make it easier for gamers to play with friends. Sometimes it can be difficult to get everybody to buy a new game, especially if they don’t know much about it. The Guest Pass Edition will allow a player to invite up to five other people to join them at no additional cost. This comes with no other limitations, so the whole gang, whether in public or private matches, will be able to check out all the game modes. Currently, it’s unknown how much the game will retail for or when early access will end.
