How to Farm Guardian Rathalos
Players who are looking for Flame Sacs must set their sights on Guardian Rathalos, a large monster that appears on the Ruins of Wyvreria map. Indeed, players have a 20% chance to receive a Flame Sac as a Target Reward upon slaying Guardian Rathalos. For full clarity, Target Rewards are the items that are earned at the end of a hunt, and Monster Hunter Wilds players should not expect to get any Flame Sacs for breaking a Guardian Rathalos's parts, destroying its wounds, or harvesting its carcass.
Since Flame Sacs are only awarded 20%, players who are looking for the material may need to fight Guardian Rathalos several times. Fortunately, it is very easy to repeatedly initiate fights with this large monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, and here is how that is done:
- Work through Monster Hunter Wilds' main story to reach the initial fight against Guardian Rathalos. This fight occurs in Chapter 3-1.
- After slaying Guardian Rathalos, speak with Alma, the Quest Counter. She can be found near the Tents in Base Camps, and she also follows the Hunter across the game's various maps.
- Select Post/Join Quest.
- Select the Optional Quests tab.
- Select the "His Eternal Reign" quest, which centers around fighting a Guardian Rathalos.
- Accept & Depart to initiate the quest.
Just after reaching High Rank, there is a period during which players cannot freely travel to the Ruins of Wyvreria. Fortunately, players can return to the map, and fight a Guardian Rathalos, during that period simply by using the "His Eternal Reign" optional quest.
After initiating "His Eternal Reign," and traveling to the Ruins of Wyveria, the player should simply mount their Seikret and use its auto-move feature to be taken directly to the Guardian Rathalos. Indeed, the monster will automatically be marked with a waypoint at the beginning of the mission, making it very easy to find. Players must then slay the monster, and they may discover that they have received a Flame Sac as a Target Reward at the end of the hunt. If the player does not get the desired material, they should simply start a new instance of "His Eternal Reign" and try again.
