At the beginning of your time in Mewgenics, food can feel relatively plentiful. Each successful run will net you a good amount, and the number of cats you have probably isn't too overwhelming. However, as you breed better cats and complete more runs, you'll quickly find that food becomes increasingly scarce. Fortunately, you're in the right place, as in this guide I'll run through every way to get more food in Mewgenics, so your precious kitties won't have to go hungry... And you don't have to suffer the consequences.

How to Get More Food in Mewgenics
There are three main ways to get more food in Mewgenics: Battles, Adventure Events, and speaking to Tracy the NPC. I've outlined each method in more detail below.
Battles
Food can be obtained by completing battles on each adventure you take your little quartet of cats on. At the beginning, battles won't reward too much food, but as you progress further and take on tougher enemies and boss battles, you'll earn more cat food.
Keep in mind that food earned during a run isn't 'banked' until you return home. This means you need to beat a boss and reach the 'Home' icon on your map before it'll be usable. Anything up until that point will only be temporarily earned. If you die before returning home or abandon an adventure, the food and items will be lost.
Chance Encounters
These might also just be known as non-battle events on a run, but these encounters are marked with a '?' On the map during an adventure. Encounters require you to choose from a selection of actions for your cat to take, with the success rate being based on their stats. If you're successful, you'll often get an item, improve the cat's stats, and in some cases, you can earn food.
It's worth noting that the reward you get from passing one of these encounters is entirely down to chance, so you can't rely on these for your cat food needs. It's also similar to food earned from battles in that you'll need to make it home for it to count.
Buying Food from Tracy
The third and final option is to just buy cat food from Tracy, who runs the Paw-Mart. The Paw-Mart can be accessed from the NPC menu when you're at home. Cat food can be purchased in bulk packs of 10 and costs five coins, which can be found scattered on battlefields during fights.
Tracy is also the NPC who runs the shop that you can visit during a run. The shop on a run, in my experience, doesn't stock cat food and is more focused on selling items that are useful for battle or specifically for the run.
How to Increase Cat Food Storage in Mewgenics
When you first start out in the game, you'll only be able to hold 100 cat food. This will be a lot initially, but eventually, you'll need to hold more as your cat army grows. To increase cat food storage, you need to give Tracy 10 cats that are at least five years old, and then buy the Food Storage Box upgrade for 100 coins.
Once purchased, open the furniture menu and place the box in your house to increase your cat food capacity by 40.
What Happens If You Run Out of Food in Mewgenics?
Running out of cat food will cause your cats to enter a 'starving' state on the first day that they don't eat. If they don't get fed the following day again, they'll die.
Starving cats can eat the remains of dead cats in your house, which can cause them to get the Necrophage ability. This causes them to move towards dead bodies near them at the beginning of their turn in battle, increasing all of their stats and healing them by 4 HP. This isn't guaranteed to always happen, however.
