Just like in most other games and in real life, money makes the world go round in Mewgenics. Having plenty of it can make your runs much easier, as it can be used to purchase useful items to help make your cats stronger, give them new abilities, or melee attacks with more firepower or improved range. It can also be used to purchase much-needed upgrades for your house, as well as cat food if you're really struggling to feed your ever-expanding army of feline friends. In this guide, I'll explain how to get more coins in Mewgenics, so you can ensure you're making ends meet and giving yourself the best chance of progressing on your next run.

How to Get Money in Mewgenics

Money is earned by picking it up off the battlefield, completing chance encounters, using the 'Pickpocket' ability, and completing battles. I've explained each of these in more detail for you below.

Picking Up Coins on the Battlefield

Coins can often be seen glistening away on the ground during a battle. These are randomly scattered on squares and can be picked up by moving one of your cats onto the square.

Each coin that you find will only add one to your total, but this can add up quickly, so it's well worth picking them up whenever you can spare a turn to grab them in battle.

To pick up the coins, your cat has to end its movement on the square with the coins on. It won't pick them up if it just walks through the square with coins in it on its way to another nearby square.

Chance Encounters

Chance encounters, or random events, will task you with picking an action for your cat to take in a scenario that's based on their stats. The higher a stat related to the action, the more likely it is that your cat will pass the stat check and succeed. The 'right' answer is normally hinted at in the image on the right-hand side of the screen, too, so make sure you're paying attention.

The rewards for succeeding in these chance encounters are random. It can be cat food, random items, throw you into a battle, and sometimes get you some coins.

Use the 'Pickpocket' Ability

If you've unlocked the 'Thief' class in Mewgenics, then you can get an ability called 'Pickpocket' for your cat. This steals 1-3 coins from a unit and gives it -1 damage. While not the strongest attack in the game, it is a very handy way to give yourself some much-needed cash before visiting the shop which conveniently appears before boss battles on a run.

Complete Battles

Every time you emerge victorious from a battle, you'll earn some coins. The amount of coins or money that you earn depends on the difficulty of the battle.

Taking down tougher enemies or boss fights earns you more coins, while those battles towards the beginning of a run will typically earn you less.

It's worth noting that any money you collect can only be 'banked' and taken home if you actually succeed on a run. If all your cats die and you fail a run, any money, food, or other items you collected on the run will be lost.
