In Mewgenics, you rely heavily on various trinkets to buff your cats during combat. These include things like weapons, armor, and other materials (e.g., Fanny Pack, Leather Jacket, Mustache, Antidote).

As such, Neverstone is a unique thing that you can equip on your felines during their adventure. However, unlike other goodies, this one has a rather confusing purpose (unless you fully understand how to take advantage of it). Therefore, for those interested, this guide explains not only how to use Neverstone in Mewgenics, but also ways to obtain it since you’re definitely going to want it.
How to Get Neverstone in Mewgenics
Simply put, to get Neverstone in Mewgenics, you need to play through the chapters and wait for specific events to appear that reward you with an extra cat for your run, since it comes with this special rock that you can then immediately place in one of your pets' trinket slots from the inventory. Because all adventure items in this creepy cat roguelike are RNG-based, you can’t guarantee that these events will show up. They’re random and may require you to make a choice involving objects like Dust Piles, for example.
You may stumble upon these events if one of your units dies in the previous round or if you begin a run with only three cats, leaving the fourth slot empty. So, to boost your odds, you can try the latter with top-tier warriors, of course. In this way, the game encourages you by offering events that provide a supplementary cat for support, similar to how you receive flies and mice as bonus allies when your team is full.
How to Use Neverstone in Mewgenics
This rock’s description literally says “Never level up,” meaning that instead of improving your fighters, it will prevent them from upgrading at the end of each stage, which is usually how your units get stronger for the next battle.
While applying it to your pets may seem bizarre, it’s actually very beneficial. With this item, you have the golden opportunity to make your best units far more powerful, since all the XP at the end will be transferred to the other felines without the orb.
To use Neverstone effectively in Mewgenics, place it in the trinket slot of a low-tier cat (ideally the one you received from the event) and finish the chapter normally. Once your cats return home, you can use these “retired” felines to breed kittens with legendary abilities.
