Fans of dark-humor roguelite RPGs will likely click with Mewgenics, if not straight-up love it. The adventure kicks off with a strange scientist, Thomas A. Beanies, who shares his plans and his serious obsession with mutant cats. He believes they might change the world, or, in his own words, “maybe even make dying impossible.” To make that happen, he relies on the player to bring him the finest cats, so he can experiment on them.

‎Mewgenics Combat Guide

Mewgenics is heavily combat-focused, so knowing how to fight is a no-brainer, and this guide will exactly help with that.

Since fighting is a crucial part of the game (as it’s a turn-based tactical roguelite), you’ll need plenty of Mana to win rounds and level up. This guide explains how to earn more Mana in Mewgenics, so your cats deliver a proper showdown to mobs.

‎How to Gain Mana Fast in Mewgenics

In Mewgenics, you can use your cats to cast multiple spells and activate specific abilities on enemies, in addition to their normal hit. This, however, costs Mana, essentially an energy or attack currency. Each unit has a limited Mana pool, shown by a blue hurricane icon just below their health bar. You can check how much they have available after summoning them into fights.

The primary way to gain Mana is by finishing a cat’s turn while still in combat, allowing other team members to start attacking enemies. You can do this by tapping the "End Turn" button on the right side of your screen. The good thing is there’s no RNG involved; you can see exactly how much of this resource your critter will earn each time on that button. However, this may not always be enough to trigger bonus hits when the character returns to the battlefield. Typically, you restore five or more Mana per turn, while most normal abilities require seven Mana.

Thankfully, there are techniques to significantly boost your units’ Mana generation. First, you’ll need to grab Catnips. They are generally scattered across the arena and can be targeted with skills, similar to how you attack mobs, and each one can add 10 Mana to your meter.

Next, you must equip Catnip Baggy on your pets. Here's a quick rundown of the common ones:

  • Small Catnip Baggy grants +7 Mana.
  • Large Catnip Baggy gives +14 Mana.

These can be obtained either by successfully completing a level or while progressing through the chapters. However, they must be consumed in the same adventure. If your cats are knocked out by bosses or if you abandon the cycle, you’ll lose the bags, so don’t plan on storing any!

Players can also use other items like Leaky Brain, found in treasure boxes, to trigger a special effect: adjacent allies receive +2 Mana whenever you spend the same amount on a cat.

Since a unit’s intelligence strongly affects the total Mana they earn per round (shown by the bright lightbulb icon), putting on Brain Candy can help greatly. It blesses +5 intelligence for the remainder of the battle.

Last but not least, Mana can also be restored with passive skills like Hunter’s Boon that you select after victories. Just make sure to read each skill card carefully so you don’t miss out when they appear.
