Fans of Mewgenics must go through a series of battles in each chapter to progress through the acts and reach the end. Some levels feature mini-bosses with mobs attacking you in turn-based combat, while others are focused on the final boss; interestingly, each has its own dedicated theme song.

As you might expect from its name, this boss is a giant rodent wearing cool sunglasses. Its special (and only) move is launching Spawn Bombs onto the battlefield while keeping its distance from you.

These explosives are rat-head shaped and target not only the tile they land on but also 10 tiles horizontally and vertically (The grey exclamation mark above them indicates the risky areas). Thankfully, they don’t blast immediately. Instead, they go off after your next fighter cat finishes its turn, right after the boss attacks. All the tiles they hit catch fire, and stepping on them will burn your cat.

To beat the Radical Rat boss easily in Mewgenics, you need to defuse the Spawn Bomb instantly after it’s thrown. You can do this by smashing it with your cat’s basic attack or any active or passive abilities. It only has 1 HP, so even a small hit will work. The boss will usually toss it near your units, so targeting it is easy. Just don’t delay, or the arena will quickly fill with deadly bombs.

Once the bomb is deactivated, focus on attacking Radical Rat.

That’s basically the core strategy: hit the bomb first, then the boss.

Ranged units perform very well in this fight. Aside from the Hunter class (which is particularly strong against Radical Rat), any unit with a ranged attack or relevant passive can strike the boss from a safe distance. If you have items like the Puzzle Box or skills such as Grab or Minihook that can pull Radical Rat toward it, use them strategically, especially near tank units or ones that deal melee damage.

Never put multiple cats in the same row or column. If the Spawn Bomb isn’t disabled properly, it can deal fire damage to all of them at once.

Moreover, make sure to spend your Mana on healing yourself and adjacent allies. You can also pick up food items from the ground for constant HP recovery, since your felines are likely to be hurt from previous mini-boss fights, and you don’t want them to die.

Before facing the Radical Rat boss, pick up traits that go with your cat’s passives and consider using trinkets that can help in the fight (you're going to lose them anyway if you fail the battle). Tracy’s Adventure Store has some useful essentials, such as Antidote for debuff removal, Conductor for electrical damage if you have a compatible unit, and a Fanny Pack to increase food drops. However, the store’s stock is RNG-based, so availability may vary.
