There are a ton of different items that you can find during your time in Mewgenics. For the most part, these will give your cats armor bonuses or stat boosts, improve their damage-dealing capabilities in battle, or can be used to remove debuffs or provide an additional attack in combat. One of the more confusing items, however, is the broken magic mirror in Mewgenics, as, at first glance, it looks to provide more of a nerf on one of your cats than a positive gain. However, there's more to this item than meets the eye, and in this guide, I'll run you through what you need to know.

How to Get Fancy Bow in Mewgenics

There are loads of items you can give to your cats in Mewgenics, but none are as mysterious (or as fancy) as the Fancy Bow. Here's how to get it.

How to Get the Broken Mirror in Mewgenics

Mewgenics Finally Has a Release Date

The Broken Mirror is one of the side quest items that players can be given by Dr. Beanies for handing him five cats that have mutations, birth defects, disorders, or parasites. After you've given him five of these cats, he'll give you one of his inventions.

These invention items come with modifiers that make your runs considerably more difficult. This is the case with the Broken Magic Mirror, which gives your team very bad luck during events. It also gives you +2 Thorns, and is cursed, so once you equip it to a cat, it can't be unequipped.

From my experience, the order in which you get these inventions from Dr. Beanies appears to be random.

If you throw away an invention item or you lose it on a run, don't worry. Keep giving cats that meet his requirements to Dr. Beanies, and he'll eventually give you the item again. You might just have to wait a while for him to give it again if you haven't had all of his other inventions.

How to Complete the Broken Mirror Side Quest in Mewgenics

As noted above, to complete this side quest, you need to equip the Broken Magic Mirror to one of the cats that you take out on a run with you. Keep in mind that the severe bad luck during events will mean your cats are more likely to either get injured, take damage, or get themselves into other battles between the main battle tiles on an adventure.

The best way to minimise the effects of the Broken Mirror is to equip it to one of your strongest cats that has ranged attacks. This helps to keep it out of the way of damage in battle, and their naturally higher stats mean that the severe bad luck during events is less likely to have a significant impact on their performance in combat.

The main thing to keep in mind with any invention quest that you embark on is to check what area is specified. While some inventions you get early on in your playthrough may only require you to get through the alley, others you pick up later may require you to reach areas in Acts 2 and 3, which can make them far more challenging. Hopefully, by that point, you've got some seriously strong cats to make things even easier.

Magic Mirror (Fixed) Reward, Explained

For completing a run with the broken magic mirror, you'll be rewarded with the fixed version of it instead. The Magic Mirror (Fixed) gives you a 20% chance of reflecting projectiles fired by enemies right back at them. When your cat is downed, a friendly Spookie is spawned. They're not the most powerful units, but they can keep you in the battle for a little longer while your Cleric revives or heals your other cats.
