How to Find Maria (6/22) in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Quests in Metaphor: ReFantazio are mostly accompanied by clear directions on where to go and what to do, as well as deadlines to complete them. Some quests, however, require a little bit of critical thinking to figure out. "Find Maria" is a story quest that starts on 6/22 and falls under this category.

As the party discusses what to do about the Tournament for the Throne, Fabienne barges into their room and tells them that Maria, Grius's daughter, has gone missing, and nobody knows where she is. Naturally, it's the protagonist's responsibility to find her and bring her back home. Trouble is, there are no clues pointing to her location. Here's where to look.

How to Find Maria on 6/22 in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Maria is hiding in the Regalith Grand Cathedral, next to the Recruitment Center and Market Square. It's the same place where the three-headed statue of the King's candidate can be observed to claim accumulated Magla (MAG) and where the Town Crier makes all his announcements. There is no quest marker indicating where the players should go to find Maria, but there are clues along the way pointing in the right direction.

As soon as you agree to Fabienne's request to go save Maria, you'll be deposited just outside the Hushed Honeybee Inn. Directly in front of you will be a man in grey clothing. Talk to him, and he will reveal that he saw Maria by the stairs north of Sunshade Row, next to the General Store.

The General Store in question is Comfort Concoction, a shop at the northernmost edge of Sunshade Row (pictured above).

Talking to the Curt Man will create a quest marker for you to follow.

Talk to the Activist Woman outside the shop, and she'll tell you that she saw Maria head towards the Grand Cathedral. Take the staircase behind the woman to head there yourself.

Here, follow the quest marker towards the center of the Cathedral, where the guard is stationed. To find Maria, approach the guard stationed next to the Cathedral. A small cutscene will automatically trigger, where the guard will tell the party that a small girl has gone inside the Cathedral. Immediately afterward, a dialogue between the protagonist and Maria will play out, where he comforts Maria and promises to bring back a picture from his upcoming journey. Maria will return to the Hushed Honeybee and the quest will be marked complete.

This is a story quest that can only be completed on 6/22, the same day Maria goes missing. The game cannot progress until Maria is found.
