Cooking is one of the many uses of free time in Metaphor: ReFantazio that players can do on the Gauntlet Runner. As you progress through the main story, more recipes will be unlocked and can be cooked with ingredients found later in the game, which is also much better than earlier recipes.

One ingredient players will get access to after a few hours of playtime is Briny Salt, which can also easily be missed since there is only one place to get it. Here's where to get Briny Salt, and what recipes it is used in.

Where To Get Briny Salt In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Briny Salt can only be purchased from the Cheery Water Merchant in the Merchant's Baazar in Brilehaven. The Cheery Water Merchant is found along the left side of the road and is the first merchant you will find in the Baazar with the water droplet icon over his head. Brilehaven is the third city in the game, and even after leaving you can use fast travel to return any other day of free time.

Other than cooking, there are no other uses for Briny Salt, and it is recommended that you only buy what you need. While there are a few ways to get Reeve quickly, you can return to Brilehaven throughout the game so there's no need to spend all your money on one ingredient. There are three recipes in total that use Briny Salt:

The best recipe to use Briny Salt on is by far Cursed Love Ballard, as MP management and recovery will always be an issue throughout the game. A party-wide MP restoration item is incredibly useful at any level, and Hex can be one of the worst status ailments to have to deal with. Since it takes a while to unlock the Cursed Love Ballard recipe, the Coney Stew is another decent use for Briny Salt early in the game.
