Just like many Atlus RPGs, a lot of decisions you make in Metaphor: ReFantazio come with consequences. As such, you’ll be asked to make a decision when you get on your Gauntlet Runner and leave Grand Trad. On your journey, you’ll run into Gideaux and Glodell, two competitors who are locked in a fierce battle on the road. Once the cutscene ends, you’re faced with a choice: either help out Glodell or see how their fight plays out. The question arises: should you help Glodell or choose the other option in Metaphor: ReFantazio?

Should You Help Glodell in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Yes, you should help out Glodell in his fight with Gideaux. Given his rude behavior when you first met him, you may not want to help Glodell, but doing so will help you win Lord Louis’s regard. Glodell is one of Louis’s supporters and your party’s ultimate goal is to get closer to Louis.

It is important to note that the option you choose doesn't really make a difference here. Even if you decide to go with "see how it plays out," Strohl and Hulkenberg will intervene and force you to assist Glodell. Once you agree to help Glodell, you’ll be pushed into a miniboss battle against Gideaux and his soldiers.

How To Deal With Gideaux in Metaphor: ReFantazio

First things first, do not target Gideaux at all. He’s a high-ranked competitor, and you can’t actually hit him. Instead, you need to take down his men. Start by attacking the Mage Monk, as his ability to heal allies makes him a critical threat. While the monk is resistant to magic, he's vulnerable to physical attacks. Next, take down the Spear Soldier with magic attacks. He’s weak against ice damage, so use that to your advantage in this battle.

Once the battle with Gideaux and his soldiers is over, you’ll come face-to-face with Lord Louis and Junah, the captivating singer from the ceremony. You're presented with a choice of how to respond to Lord Louis, but ultimately, the only right answer is saying you want to help him. As the cutscene ends, Goldell will walk away, coldly stating that your actions have not changed anything.

All in all, regardless of whether you choose to help Glodell or not, the outcome of the story remains unchanged. Glodell will continue to distrust you in the Charadrius segment. In fact, his resentment may even intensify because he feels indebted to you for helping him.
