What Is The Protagonist's Canon Name In Metaphor: ReFantazio
The Protagonist is named after the first few minutes of gameplay, once the player reaches the Recruitment Center for the army. This name will constantly be used by your party members and other NPCs throughout the game, though it won't be spoken with the voice actors. There are multiple canon names depending on the language you are playing with, but the main canon name is Will. While it may be unintentional, this name may have some connection to the protagonist's journey to earn the will of the people to make him king, though Atlus' usual canon names have deeper meanings. The way to figure out the canon name of the protagonist is by changing the language of the game after naming them, with the result differing depending on the language you select. You can't rename the protagonist outside of changing the language of the game, and this only changes it to a set name. The name you choose will also become the set name for the original language you were playing with for that save file, meaning you can't change to the canon name of that name originally.

Right when the game starts you'll be able to name yourself, the person guiding the protagonist on their journey. Ultimately, the best experience for the game is to give your own name, as you'll quickly see how your name is inserted in the game, and adds another level of immersion to the game. Should you change the language of the game, your own name will also change to "you" in whatever language you are choosing. This name also can't be changed once selected, though it is done right away so restarting and choosing a different name is easy.
