Metaphor: ReFantazio has many unique Archetypes that have very different play styles or build styles. One Archetype that will change the usual trends of Archetypes is the Masked Dancer, which has the ability to take on the elemental affinities of other Archetypes.

This is done using different Masks, which players will first need to craft using the experiment system in Akademia. This may all sound confusing since players will begin to collect Masks from combat earlier than they unlock the Masked Dancer; so here's a full breakdown of what you need to know about masks.

Archetypes level up separately from your party members in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here's how to level up specific ones quickly.

What To Do With Masks In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Masks you'll start getting that have different Arcana in the name are crafting pieces used to make Archetype Masks. With these crafting material masks, you'll need to progress the story until you unlock the Masked Dancer Archetype, which will happen with the fifth party member joining and can't be missed. Once this has happened, visit Akademia to have More explain the experiments process. Using these Arcana Mask pieces, you can craft the Masks of any of your current available Archetypes that can then be equipped onto the character using the Masked Dancer Archetype.

You can only craft Masks of an Archetype you have already unlocked by ranking up followers.

To craft Masks, go to the Special Experiments section in Akademia, where you'll be given a list of Masks for all available Archetypes you currently have. The affinities for the mask will be listed in the description so you know exactly what you are making. You'll need multiple Arcana masks to make one Archetype Mask, and these experiments are final and can't be undone.

How To Change Masks In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Junah Will The Seeker Mask Equipped

The one downside to Masks is that they take the accessory slot for that character. Junah will start with the Seeker Mask equipped, and other masks can be crafted and equipped on just like changing her accessory. Changing the Mask of that character will change their affinity to match that of the Archetype the Mask is named after. It is not required for a character using the Masked Dancer to have a Mask equipped, as they can also choose to equip another accessory and have the base affinities for the Masked Dancer.

Where To Get Masks In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Arcana Mask pieces will mostly be obtained through combat and exploration throughout dungeons. They do have set locations in dungeon floors and in chests, meaning there is a limited number to find naturally in the game. Many enemies in dungeons found after Brilehaven will also randomly drop Masks, though this won't be a reliable method to get the masks you want.

Masks can also be purchased in one store in the game. This store has a rotating stock based on the in-game day of the week you visit. The shop can be accessed any time when you visit Brilehaven, though the mask inventory needs to be unlocked.

  • Visit the Wary Shopkeep on Seabreeze Street in Brilehaven.
