Bounties are an easy way to earn Reeve and increase your popularity in Metaphor: ReFantazio. These bounties not only lead to difficult mini-boss fights that can reward the player with a lot of XP and MAG, but they also give smaller dungeons to explore.

The first bounty players can accept in Martira is for Goborn, King Of The Imps. This bounty takes place at the Imp's Den, a location only one day away from Martira, but players will first need to make The Goborn King appear before they can fight him.

How To Prepare For The Goborn King In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Player Summoning The Gunner Archetype

Do not bring a Healer or Mage, as Staffs will make any Goborn infuriated.

  • Protagonist - Gunner
  • Hulkenburg - Knight
  • Strohl - Warrior/Swordmaster

The Goborn King doesn't have any weaknesses aside from a higher chance of falling asleep. If you can get the Swordmaster, which is the second Archetype in the Warrior family, it will make this fight much easier with its attack all skill it starts with. The Gunner's first skill has the chance of putting an enemy to sleep, but purchasing more items that inflict sleep at the store in Martira is a good backup. Through Skill Inheritance, it's also helpful to transfer Media from the Healer to a party member.

How To Spawn The Goborn King In Metaphor: ReFantazio

When you arrive at the Imp's Den, many Hexer Goborn Estos will be marked on the map. Players will need to defeat all but two of these in order to make the boss spawn. This happens immediately after the last one is killed, so you need to heal up and restore any MP to prepare before taking on what seems to be your third to last Hexer. Like the boss, Hexers don't have any weaknesses aside from falling asleep more often.

10 Beginner Tips For Metaphor: ReFantazio

For players just starting Altus' new title, here are a few essential tips to keep in mind.

How To Beat The Goborn King In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Goborn King has no weaknesses but is more susceptible to sleep.

The Goborn King will attack the party with four other Goborns along with it. During your first few turns, prioritize killing the extra Goborns to limit the number of Press Turn icons the enemy gets. Should you have more single-target attacks, use Sleep skills like the Gunners or items to put the boss asleep along with one or two others. Try to keep the boss constantly asleep as it will do the most damage and will continue to buff the attacks of all enemies and will recast it whenever the buff wears off. Knight's Proclamation from Hulkenberg is also key to directing all the attacks to one party member, helping you limit damage and necessary healing.

You'll be outmatched in this fight unless you come back to it later in the game, and utilizing sleep is key, since you can't reliably get more Press Turn icons. Once all the other Goborns have been defeated, The King Goborn will continuously maximize its hit rate and evasion until it is defeated. Undoing its buffs is possible, but you'll need to do it each turn as it will reuse the ability anytime its stats aren't maxed, and this will quickly drain your MP.

Your best option here is to raise the agility of your party using skills or items, or just constantly attacking and pushing past any misses. Despite its raised stats, items have a sure-hit effect, meaning they will reliably damage the boss for the last bit of its health without worrying about constantly missing your attacks.
