Most bosses in Metaphor: ReFantazio have unique quirks that make the battle more difficult than just a straight-up brawl to see who has better stats and attacks. A lot of times, a boss fight is determined based on how the player prepares and the Archetypes they currently have equipped on their party.
Heismay is one of the more unique boss fights as he showcases his ability to clone himself right at the start of the fight. Each clone is able to attack and gives the enemy more Press Turn icons, but attacking the wrong one will result in a miss. Here's how to identify the right Heismay and how to beat him.

How To Spot The Real Heismay In Metaphor: ReFantazio
Attacking the right Heismay will make all of his clones disappear for the remainder of the turn until he reuses the ability to spawn more. You can spot the real Heismay as it will be the only one that is casting a shadow. His exact location will be randomized and will change each time he uses the ability, though the one with the shadow will always be the right Heismay.
Do not use attack-all abilities as it will count as a miss against the clones and the real Heismay.
Only use single-target attacks to hit the real Heismay with the first member of your party to make the clones go away. After that, you can use attack-all abilities like strong Synthesis attacks without penalty.

How To Beat Heismay In Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Bring a healer with Patra and Rakunda.
- Have the other two party members use any strong Archetype with single-target attacks.
Heismay has no affinities at all, meaning he has no weaknesses or resistances. While you can't take advantage of a weakness, you do have the freedom to use whatever skills are your best to take him down. Physical attacks tend to be the best for this fight as fishing for critical hits will occasionally give you an extra Press Turn icon. For the most part, Heismay is a weak boss once you get past his clones, which always need to be taken out right away by hitting the real Heismay otherwise he'll get three more Press Turn icons.
When fighting Heismay for the first time, he will mostly just use a basic attack with his extra turn, so as long as you heal when needed he won't pose much of a threat. After you beat him and he runs away, heal up before searching his tent, because you'll have to fight him again after the next cutscene.
When fighting Heismay again, he'll continue to same gimmick of making clones but will also have two new attacks. One can cause the Forget status effect while the other will lower the party's agility by two levels. Should your agility be reduced, counter it with Dekunda. While Forget may seem like a bad status effect, it can either be healed or that party member can focus on basic attacks to dispel the clones and save the other Press Turn icons for skills with higher damage.
