Weapons come in all shapes and sizes in RPGs. Let’s look at another Atlus series like Persona wherein characters can fight with all manners of weapons from swords to guns and even odder things like whips. Their latest RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, has some wild weapons too.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Difficulty Settings And Differences
There are five difficulty settings in Metaphor: ReFantazio, each making the game progressively harder in certain ways. Here’s the breakdown.
Many of them can be bought in shops across the land and are worth the investment. However, others are harder to find unless players are paying attention in Metaphor: ReFantazio. So, let’s go through some early finds, what classes they can be equipped to, and what characters can use them well. It’s time to arm up in this bizarre fantasy RPG!
8 Golden Epee
Attack 200/Hit 96
- Bonus Effect: Strength +3, Magic +3
- Location: Grand Trad (Spado Smithy)
The Golden Epee is a sword that can be equipped to the Seeker Archetype. This will be the starting class of Will, the canon name of the protagonist, in Metaphor: ReFantazio. It can easily be purchased at the weapon shop in the capital of Grand Trad called Spado Smithy. The cost is a lot though but on the bright side, there are sales days of the week. The nice bonuses for this sword are the increase to Strength which will help with physical attack power and Magic which will boost the power of spells like Cyc.
7 Dragon's Judgement
Attack 144/Hit 95
- Bonus Effect: Strength +3, Adds Fire Element
- Location: St. Fermis Church
Dragon's Judgement can be acquired through a process called purification in the game. In Grand Trad, there is a chapel called St. Fermis Church which will upgrade certain weapons for a cost. To begin, players must acquire the Dragon's Indignation greatsword after defeating the Fire Dragon Mauna in the Nord Mines of Metaphor: ReFantazio. After that, they can upgrade the greatsword into Dragon's Judgement which will increase stats and add a fire bonus to attacks. Greatswords like this are part of the Warrior Archetype which Strohl awakens.
6 Demon Slayer Pike
Attack 166/Hit 97
- Bonus Effect: Strength +2, Endurance +2, More Effective Vs Demihuman-type monsters
- Location: St. Fermis Church
The Demon Slayer Pike is another example of purification in Metaphor: ReFantazio. It’s a spear that the Knight Archetype can equip and that class begins with Hulkenberg.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Stats Explained
There are five stats for the protagonist and his companions to level up in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here's what each one does.
Players have to first find the Imp-Ending Pike in the Belega Corridor. This location can be unlocked as part of A Bullish Embargo side quest that can be started through the merchant Brigitta in Grand Trad. After that, players can upgrade the spear at St. Fermis Church.
5 Grand Master’s Staff
Attack 200/Hit 96
- Bonus Effect: Powers Up All Magic
- Location: St. Fermis Church
The Grand Master’s Staff has to be unlocked through purification. It belongs to the Mage Archetype which operates similarly to other mage classes in RPGs and the staff will miraculously strengthen all attack spells. The starter staff for this upgrade is called the Sage's Staff. It’s located in the Abandoned Tomb which cannot be located until players reach the town of Martina in the story. There they will meet Alonzo who will unlock this location for a side quest in Metaphor: ReFantazio called A Dagger, a Ring, and a Rake.
4 Serenity Sceptre

- Bonus Effect: Magic +2, Strengthens Light Magic
- Location: St. Fermis Church
The other side to a mage in an RPG is a healer and the game literally has an Archetype called a Healer. They used maces and the best early one is called the Serenity Sceptre. It needs to be upgraded from the Moonlight Mace which players can find in the game’s first main dungeon called Regalith Grand Cathedral. With the Serenity Sceptre, players can boost their Light-based attacks like with the spell Hama which works great against undead foes also located in the Regalith Grand Cathedral.
3 Fist of Salvation
Attack 139/Hit 98
- Bonus Effect: Strength +2, More Effective Vs Undead Monsters
- Location: St. Fermis Church
The Fist of Salvation is another weapon that is strong against undead monsters like the Serenity Sceptre. Also, the starter gloves for this purification upgrade, the Exorcist Knuckles, can be found in the same area via the Regalith Grand Cathedral.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - How To Level Up Archetypes Fast
Archetypes level up separately from your party members in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here's how to level up specific ones quickly.
Gloves or other fist-based weapons can be equipped to the Brawler Archetype which can coincidentally be unlocked during the Regalith Grand Cathedral arc of the story through the Follower named Catherina. The Followers system is like the Social Links system from the Persona series.
2 Thrift Abacus
Attack 203/Hit 96
- Bonus Effect: Luck +3, Decrease the cost of money skills
- Location: St. Fermis Church
Like a lot of RPGs, Metaphor: ReFantazio has a lot of strange weapons and it gets no stranger than abacuses which belong to the Merchant class. This Archetype can be unlocked through that aforementioned NPC, Brigitta, who is also a Follower. Abacus weapons have a good range in the field during action combat segments. Generals aside, to get the Thrift Abacus, players have to find the Apprentice’s Abacus in the Abandoned Tomb and then upgrade it through the purification process. The nice thing about this weapon is that it decreases the cost of monkey skills as players can literally throw money at enemies which is called Reeve in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
1 Hellfire Fangs
Attack 222/Hit 99
- Bonus Effect: Adds Fire Element
- Location: St. Fermis Church
The final weapon type worth noting are daggers which can be equipped to the Faker Archetype. This class can be unlocked through the aforementioned side quest provided by Alonzo who becomes a Follower. Like most of these examples, players need to purify a lesser weapon to get a better one. In this instance, the Crimson Fangs can be located in the Abandoned Tomb and then upgraded to the Hellfire Fangs. Like the Dragon's Judgement, this upgrade will add fire damage to attacks.
