Metal Slug Tactics is set to be released on November 5, 2024, and it will receive a physical edition. Metal Slug Tactics is being developed by Leikir Studio, and it is the first tactical RPG in the series.

Officially revealed in June 2021, Metal Slug Tactics was initially expected to release in 2023. That did not come to pass, though, and a June 2024 update revealed a new release window for the title. Specifically, the update indicated that the tactical RPG would be available in Fall 2024, though a specific release date was not provided.

That is no longer the case, though, as it is now confirmed that Metal Slug Tactics will be released on November 5, 2024. The game's publisher, Dotemu, has also indicated that more information about the game's physical release is coming soon, and that is sure to excite collectors of physical media. Additionally, Dotemu states that pre-order details are forthcoming, and the game's price may be among that information.

The reveal of Metal Slug Tactics' release date came through a variety of channels, including a brand-new trailer. Not only did the trailer confirm the game's release date, it also revealed that the Ikari Warriors Clark Still, Ralf Jones, and Leona Heidern will appear as playable reinforcements in Metal Slug Tactics.

For the uninitiated, Clark and Ralph are characters that debuted in SNK's 1986 run-and-gun title Ikari Warriors, and Metal Slug 6, which released in 2006, was the first time that they appeared in a Metal Slug game. Leona, on the other hand, did not become a member of Team Ikari Warriors until The King of Fighters '96, and she did not make her Metal Slug debut until Metal Slug XX in 2010.

These three Ikari Warriors will join Marco, Tarma, Eri, and Fiolina on Metal Slug Tactic's roster, putting the current count of playable characters at seven. That said, it has been confirmed that fans of strategy games will be able to "choose between nine iconic characters from the series" when building their teams, which means that two reinforcements remain unrevealed.

With respect to those unrevealed characters, it is expected that Nadia Cassel and Trevor Spacey will take the final two slots on the roster. Indeed, these two Metal Slug 4 characters are notably absent from the list of currently-confirmed reinforcements, and it would be surprising if they did not appear in Metal Slug Tactics. Fortunately, fans of turn-based games will know very soon if Nadia and Trevor make the cut, as the game's release is imminent.
