Since Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain's release, many have surmised that it would go down as the last numbered entry in the classic video game series. However, actress and singer Donna Burke, who has been in previous Metal Gear Solid games, seems to have teased something new on the way for the franchise after posting a video to Twitter, featuring references to the Metal Gear.
To be specific, the video in Burke's tweet shows the singer and voice actress pacing as she encourages a man at a desk to turn up the volume to what is presumably a newly-recorded track for a "secret project." The track is very much in the style of her past work in Metal Gear Solid games, like the song "Sins of the Father" in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Furthermore, she captioned her tweet by saying the video was "secret project hype" and quoting the gravelly voice of Kiefer Sutherland as Snake in MGS5, saying, "Kept you waiting huh?!??"
This all points in the direction of a new Metal Gear game of some kind. Whether it is related to a sixth entry in the Metal Gear Solid series or another spinoff akin to Metal Gear Survive is anyone's guess, but it is sure to create a dialogue among Metal Gear fans.
As one could argue, many were perfectly content with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain being the final game in the core series, even in light of Metal Gear Solid 5's missing ending. That said, though, it's safe to say that plenty of other fans would be ecstatic to learn that new story content could be on the way.
After all, there is still lore to explore, including more adventures from Solid Snake and Big Boss, or even fascinating side characters like The Boss. In any case, only time will tell what the Metal Gear Solid series could have in store for us in the future.
