A new leak seemingly confirms that Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker and The Phantom Pain will feature in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The beloved stealth action franchise was created by visionary game designer Hideo Kojima, who parted ways with Konami in October 2015, with his final entry into the franchise being Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Kojima has not been credited in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 even though he was pivotal in the success of the franchise.

A Reddit user by the name of Timo653 shared their findings after "digging through the scripts" of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 launcher, and discovered multiple references to what appear to be the games that will make up Vol. 2 when it eventually comes out. According to Timo653, there is a listing of games in an asset search function that lists not only the Master Collection Vol. 1 games, but also referenced are Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 5.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 Leaked Games List

  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

This seems like solid evidence of the contents of Master Collection Vol. 2, plus it also matches up with a previous leak through Konami's website. Perhaps most exciting is the inclusion of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which is currently only available on PlayStation 3. Peace Walker was available on more platforms in the 7th home console generation, where it was originally designed for the PlayStation Portable and later ported to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and finally the PlayStation Vita handheld.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 may have its issues, but it is excellent value for money since it contains the original Metal Gear and its sequel, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, along with the first 3 Metal Gear Solid games. If it releases at the same price point, Vol. 2 will also be great value, too. Whether there will be any bonus content like in Vol. 1 is unknown. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear Acid, both PSP exclusives, could be potential candidates, but this is pure speculation.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
