Konami has confirmed a helpful Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater feature that lets players swap Naked Snake’s camouflage much faster than in the original game. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater isn’t just getting a complete graphical overhaul—Konami is also updating and fine-tuning mechanics to provide players with a modern experience, addressing specific aspects of the game that might feel a little clunky today.

Konami recently revealed a short video showcasing a new MGSD: Snake Eater mechanic that addresses MGS3’s clunky camouflage system. In the footage, players can swap camo in less than three seconds. Those who played the original game will remember how slow this mechanic was. In MGS3, players had to pause the game, enter the menu, open the "Camo" section, pick one, then close the menu and resume gameplay. This process made the game feel sluggish, breaking one of the core elements of MGS games—immersion.

The camo system, however, was a feature that significantly enhanced the experience at the time, adding another stealth element and giving players new ways to get creative when dealing with enemies—that’s why this tweak is good news for the game. A similar evolution happened with the codec, a mechanic present since the earliest Metal Gear titles. While the feature has changed from game to game, it’s still unclear how MGSD: Snake Eater will handle it.

The codec, while useful back in the day as it provided a way for the player to receive helpful information and served as a medium for delivering the narrative and creating impressively dramatic moments, can sometimes disrupt immersion and could benefit from modern improvements. As fans eagerly await the game’s August 28 release, MGSD: Snake Eater continues teasing players with the features and content it will introduce.
