One of the first two characters you can pick in Megabonk is Sir Oofie. While Fox moves relatively fast and starts with the long-range Fire Staff, Sir Oofie is slower and starts with the close-range Sword, making him more synergistic with weapons, Tomes, and items that take advantage of his melee strengths.
Megabonk: All Characters (& How to Unlock Them)
Here is a list of all the characters available in Megabonk and how to obtain them.
While your Weapons, Tomes, and Items are randomized in each run of Megabonk, you can use Rerolls, Skips, and Banishes to force certain rewards over others. Follow this guide to the best Sir Oofie build in Megabonk to learn which weapons you should prioritize, the best Sir Oofie Tomes to pick up, and items you should try to acquire over the course of your run.
This guide assumes that you have unlocked all four Weapon slots, all four Tome Slots, and most unlockable Items. Though it is still useful for Tiers 1 and 2, this best Sir Oofie build guide is tuned for Tier 3 runs in Megabonk.
Best Sir Oofie Weapons
Sword (Default)
- Sword Effect: Slashes through multiple enemies
Sir Oofie starts with the Sword, which can be upgraded to slash rapidly through a huge swathe of enemies in the direction he is facing. However, because Sir Oofie has a very slow movement speed, you need to combine this with other weapons that are effective against close-range enemies.
Aegis
- Aegis Effect: Blocks incoming attacks and sends out shockwaves
The Aegis provides a single block for each spawned shield projectile which recharges over time. This is useful because Sir Oofie can have trouble keeping enemies away from melee range, and you will more than likely take a few hits on the way to Tier 3. Aegis is practically required to survive to Tier 3 across all characters, but is especially useful for Sir Oofie.
Dexecutioner
- Dexecutioner Effect: A piercing blade. Small chance to instantly execute an enemy.
The Dexecutioner takes a long time to unlock, but it's well worth the grind. This weapon doesn't deal as much damage as the Sword, but it has a chance to instantly kill any non-boss enemy. With a rapid attack speed, you'll clear waves of enemies incredibly quickly, as you gain more chances to proc this weapon's unique execution effect.
Aura
- Aura Effect: Damages enemies in an area around you
Because Sir Oofie is slow, enemies tend to be able to get within close range as he is unable to outpace them until he picks up some Agility Tome upgrades. Turn this weakness into a strength by picking up Aura. This scales with Attack Speed to damage enemies more rapidly while they are within the radius.
If you take Aura, be sure to pick up some Size upgrades from Charge Shrines (or in place of another recommended Sir Oofie tome below).
Best Sir Oofie Tomes
XP Tome/Cursed Tome/Luck Tome
- XP Tome Effect: Increases how much XP you gain from every source
- Cursed Tome: Increases Difficulty, increasing enemy spawns and stats
- Luck Tome: Increases the Luck stat, improving your chance to get good items or upgrades
XP Tome, Cursed Tome, and Luck Tome are all powerful because of how well they scale through a full run. Get the XP and the Cursed tome early, and you'll level faster because you will spawn more enemies with higher scaling for each XP shard collected – and with higher Luck, your level-up and other rewards will be better throughout your entire run.
As long as you don't need upgrades for survivability, your main priority should be to upgrade these three tomes. Aim to get each to around level 10 or higher to have a significant impact on your leveling speed and reward quality.
Cooldown Tome
- Cooldown Tome Effect: Increases Attack Speed for all weapons (increases the number of damage ticks per second for Aura)
The Cooldown Tome has a major effect on all four of the best Sir Oofie weapons. It reduces the time between Sword slashes, increases the rate your Aegis shields recharge, grants more chances to proc the Dexecutioner effect, and triggers damage from the Aura more rapidly while enemies are within its range.
Agility Tome
- Agility Tome Effect: Increases Movement Speed by a certain percentage
Sir Oofie is one of the slowest characters in Megabonk. Because movement and maneuverability are such important stats in Megabonk, it's not a bad idea to pick up an Agility Tome for your fourth slot.
Quantity Tome
- Quantity Tome Effect: Increases how many Projectiles weapons fire
Quantity is an effect that is extremely powerful in the early game and not as noticeable in the late game. Notably, Quantity does not affect Aura at all. This is still a good Tome to pick up for Sir Oofie, though, because it gives you more Shields for the Aegis, which can save your run in a pinch. The extra Sword and Dexecutioner hits are nice at the start of your run, but not as impactful later on.
Best Sir Oofie Items
The best items for Sir Oofie increase his survivability, damage, and take advantage of his passive Armor boost with each level. Each of these vendors offers a selection of three items.
Most of your items will come as random rewards from opened Chests. However, if you find one of these hat-wearing men, keep an eye out for these best Sir Oofie items to give a huge boost to the build:
