Megachad is one of the most iconic characters in Megabonk, not just because he was featured in several Megabonk promotional trailers, but mostly because of his hot bod and masculine Aura. That's not just a joke – the Megachad's default starting weapon is the Aura weapon, which automatically damages enemies that get too close.
How to Unlock All Maps & Tiers in Megabonk (& Tips to Beat Tier 3)
There are two maps in Megabonk with three Tiers to take on, but to beat Tier 3, Megabonk players will have to min-max their build to the fullest.
The best Megachad build in Megabonk uses synergistic weapons, Tomes, and items that mitigate his slow movement speed and empower this close-range damage-ticking AoE. Follow this guide to the best Megabonk Megachad build to learn which weapons you should prioritize, what the best Megachad Tomes are, and which items you should purchase from hat-wearing men (or select as a reward from Moai statues).
This guide assumes that you have unlocked all four Weapon slots, all four Tome Slots, and most unlockable Items. Though it is still useful for Tiers 1 and 2, this best Megachad build guide is tuned for Tier 3 runs in Megabonk.
Best Megachad Weapons in Megabonk
The Best Weapons for Megachad in Megabonk
Megachad starts with the Aura weapon, which deals damage in a small area around his character model, and the ability to completely deflect attacks on a short cooldown (which is reduced for each level gained). The strategy for playing Megachad in Megabonk is to pick weapons that work like the Aura weapon and can take advantage of items that empower this default starting weapon.
One of the best weapons for Megachad is the Firewalker weapon. Firewalker spawns a small patch of fire behind your character as they move, and with Projectile and Attack Speed upgrades, this can absolutely shred through anything pursuing Megachad.
You should also keep an eye out for Frostwalker – because Megachad is so slow, having a way to freeze nearby enemies in their tracks is essential. Plus, it freezes more often based on your Attack Speed.
Aegis is also very useful for Megachad because of how often you will get hit by enemies in close combat. Though he can shrug off one hit every few seconds as a passive ability, having Aegis gives you more ways to mitigate all but guaranteed incoming hits.
If you do not find any of these weapons, try the Axe. Though this doesn't use the same items and bonuses that Aura relies on, it is still extremely good for close-range combat. With enough Projectile upgrades, you will be able to launch a ring of Axes around your location, though this takes quite a lot of investment.
Firewalker
- Firewalker Effect: Leaves a trail of fire behind you.
Frostwalker
- Frostwalker Effect: Freezes and damages enemies in an area around you.
Aegis
- Aegis Effect: Blocks incoming attacks and sends out shockwaves.
Axe
- Axe Effect: Throws spinning axes that deal area damage.
Best Megachad Tomes in Megabonk
The Best Tomes for Megachad in Megabonk
The best Tome for Megachad is the Cooldown Tome, followed very closely by the Size Tome. The Cooldown Tome increases Attack Speed, which makes your Aura and other close-range area attacks deal damage significantly faster, quickly ramping up your damage output. The Size Tome increases the size of all of your attacks, most notably your Aura, Flamewalker, and Frostwalker.
The Size stat doesn't matter much for other classes, but for the best Megachad build in Megabonk, it's extremely useful.
These two Tomes should ideally take your third and fourth slots, after the XP Tome, Luck Tome, and arguably Cursed Tome. In the current Megabonk meta, the XP Tome and Luck Tome are practically required to make meaningful progress into Tier 3 and have any chance to beat the final boss.
If you do not find either of these two Tomes within the first five minutes of your run, consider restarting. Use Refreshes and Banishes to whittle down the options until the game has no choice but to offer one of these Tomes as a reward.
XP Tome/Cursed Tome/Luck Tome
- XP Tome Effect: Increases how much XP you gain from every source
- Cursed Tome Effect: Increases Difficulty, increasing enemy spawns and stats
- Luck Tome Effect: Increases the Luck stat, improving your chance to get good items or upgrades
Size Tome
- Size Tome Effect: +Size – the size of your attacks, projectiles, explosions, and more.
Cooldown Tome
- Cooldown Tome Effect: +Attack Speed – how quickly you shoot projectiles and perform attacks.
Damage
- Damage Tome Effect: +Damage – increases the damage of your attacks.
Evasion
- Evasion Tome Effect: +Evasion – the chance to avoid an attack, taking no damage.
Best Megachad Items in Megabonk
The Best Items for Megachad in Megabonk
Most of the best items for Megachad are useful for just about any build in the game. Any run can benefit from Time Bracelets, Clovers, Unstable Transfusions, and Demonic Souls. However, there are three items you should keep a particular eye out for: Campfire, Idle Juice, and Ice Cube.
Campfire and Idle Juice give you the ability to heal and deal extra damage, respectively, while standing still (this is also a good combo for the AFK Challenge). If you empower your Aura and get other close-range weapons, and get these two Items, you can stand completely still and deal with the Swarm with ease. Ice Cube is a legendary item, but like the Frostwalker weapon, it's extremely useful for this build to slow down enemies as they try to break through your Aura AoE.
Other items you should keep an eye out for include Brass Knuckles, which deals extra damage to close-range enemies, Power Gloves, which creates a blast that knocks away enemies, and the Anvil, which increases the number of bonuses on Weapon upgrades when you level up.
